Besides the above, liked the village and the neighbouring pubs and the overall friendliness. Countryside is excellent for walks etc. Even our small dog was looked after very well - which is a rather exceptional fenomen in England (not Scotland) and Wales) and I have travelled Britain a lot over teh past 20 years.

Little to recommend
Insufficient staff to cope with either the hotel or the resturant - the same young girls had to do both jobs. Very dark room. cupboards not clean. In summary, the description of this hotel is VERY over-rated: we would never stay or eat there again.

The room was a bit smaller than we expected, but with a nice modern decor and well maintained. The food was very good - both dinner and breakfast
Nothing really bad at all - wine / beverage service could be a bit slicker but I can be too critical as I am in the trade.

Lovely rooms, lovely area, lovely shop and wonderfully comfy beds
Continental breakfast was not all that, was fine if you like meat and cheese, but they had run out of croissants etc buy the time we cam down at 8.30

Excellent staff. Great that you were able to book the ferry for us. Iron and trouser press good. Very quiet location. Delicious food. fab, comfortable bed and warm duvet. Good size for us 6-footers! Attractive surrounding areas. Near to Dover.
Needed better lighting to apply make-up. Lower mirror to see to do hair. Better lighting to read in bed. Thought the swimming pool was free. Was disappointed to find it was an extra cost. Extra cost for veg in meal- I thought should have been included in the price of the main meal. Usually there are two lots of shower gel/shampoo, etc. for a couple.

Very pleasant. Continental breakfast good value. Wonderful to have a good restaurant attached to the hotel & no cooking smells invading bedrooms. Adored the relaxed & welcoming attitude towards dogs and children
Reading light essential. All lights seemed to be either on or off; therefore all have to go to sleep at the same time!

Excellent restaurant, the food was fantastic with very good quality produce used to produce some lovely meals. Breakfast was superb!
We booked for a superior room, but when we arrived we were told that the hotel had somehow mis-read the booking and had allocated us a standard room. Although this room was ok, it was not what we had booked, and had been looking forward too.

although we really liked this hotel it was ruined by 2 sleepless nights. On the first night all you could hear was chairs scraping along the wooden floor of the restaurant below us and on the second night the staff must have been enjoying a few drinks as the music was too loud (the restaurant was closed). So much for catching up with sleep!

Excellent staff, lovely warm atmosphere in hotel. Excellent quality of food, although we only sampled a couple of things.
Room service could go on a little later at weekends?, it closes at 9pm. The shower was too low to stand under and the bath was on the small side.

Very quiet surroundings with excellently decorated rooms and ample wardrobe space. Wonderfully comfortable Goose Feather Quilt.
Unfortunately the bed in the White Horses rooms squeaks with only the slightest movement, not recommended for the romantics as situated over the restruant.

"We had a room which overlooked the garden.Unfortunately on Sunday afternoon the garden was full of non residents and at least twenty children who ran around shouting and screaming until about 8pm when the final people left.Then it went back to tranquillity!!! "Good location, short drive/walk to beautiful clifftop views and impressive panoramic view of ferry terminal. Laid back country house feel was superb. Comfortable bed, clean room, stylishly decorated if slightly on small side for price. Very pleasant and welcoming staff. Excellent evening meal in restaurant at a reasonable cost. Small car park, but could park nearby. Would stay again if in the area, this beats even the best chain hotels by a long way." (97675508)

Nice quiet location and nice hotel.
The restaurant was excellent, however we had our son with us and there weren't any options for children or smaller portions. Otherwise, it was a great meal.

"We had an overnight stay at this Hotel and couldn't fault the comfort and welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.
