    parking available very close to the city centre helpful friendly staff good cooked breakfast ,bright and cheerful breakfast room

    noise from the main road outside when staying in the rooms at the front of the building.

    "Enjoyed the stay. Even though we arrived rather dishevilled (after walking the North Downs Way) we were made very welcome by all the staff. Very helpful the ext day about keeping our rucsacks at the hotel while we did a bit of sightseeing." (107804824)

    Friendly and helpful staff Room(Mumbai) was fun

    Concerns re the fire precautions Windows definitely showing their age and therefore room was very hot as windows were not openable

    Historical inn; Honesty bar with fair prices was very convenient...homelike atmosphere...very conveniently located close to the historical downtown. It is within walking distance of Canterbury west train station.

    our room was on the front--there is a bar close by with a lot of night noise. Also the railroad crossing was quite loud as the cars went over it...and there were a lot of cars; it is on a busy road. Had to take a cab to canterbury east train station which is were the fastest route to London is.

    "Pleasant and relaxing." (107526714)

    Quirky individual hotel with excellent orignal features. Breakfast superb. Ambience relaxed and comfortable. We had one of the cheaper rooms but facilities excellent. Explanation as to the windows in process of being refurbished given as we arrived which explained the noise late at night coming through and therefore not a problem.

    none, but don't have a wide car to get through the coach yard. It was built for horse and cart and is therefore still v. narrow.

    "The hotel is located within in minutes walk of Canterbury's town centre, where you'll find many bars, restaurants and brilliant shops. The hotel staff were so friendly nothing was too much and everyone was willing to assist. Gorgeous decor and a fantastic garden where you can enjoy a nice glass of wine. The room we stayed in was small but decorated beautifully and a lot of attention to detail. Overall we rate this hotel highly, perfect for a weekend away." (99238346)

    The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and so close to the city center. Only minus point our room (Marrakesh) was small, but beautifully decorated.

    The themed room ( mumbia ) meant little space for personal belongings and the sink in the room too small for purpose, nice idea not enough space.

    very welcoming hotel with a good atmosphere.

    disturbed nights sleep from outside noise and the curtains were too flimsy to shut out the early morning sunlight. Bed very lumpy and uncomfortable.

    The luxury of Egyptian cotton white bedding. Very stylish. Very comfortable room. The location of the hotel was excellent for walking around Canterbury.

    We understand that the hotel had recently been totally refurbished. It was noticible that this was to a very high standard but we felt there still needs to be perhaps further attention to the central heating system whereby we had a problem with a noisy radiator or pump. A single phone call downstairs and a very courteous manager rectified the problem.

    Climb to room on 3rd floor with heavy suitcase is a bit of a problem.

    "The room was at the side of the street - which was very noisy at night. Because of that, did not have a good night sleep. The television did not work. It took about 10 min. for the water to get warm." (99201301)

    Stayed at the 'marakesh' room. It was nicely decorated, but rather small.

    After a 6 hour traffic-hampered journey we were greeted like old friends at reception. Our luggage swept away as we were directed to the bar for a free drink. The hotel and rooms have been tastefully modernised, cleverly retaining the character and charm of the old building.Had the weather been better it would have been nice to sit outside in the delightful garden for a meal. The hotel is perfectly located to enjoy Canterbury on foot. All in all a very pleasant experience.

    "At time of booking we werent aware that the shanghai room was on the third floor-as we were travelling with elderly parents we would have requested first floor room for them. also this room there was no sink in the bathroom which means not able to wash hands in bathroom. also shaving in main bedroom not ideal.To turn on the bedside light they had to crawl under bedside cabinet. More detailed room information clearly given for each room would be helpful for guests to make appropriate room choices. I would inform others of the hotel but would mention this issues to others."
