    A good selection of ales & an excellent breakfast

    Bar shut at 2.30pm on Friday afternoon, which I wasn't expecting that having travelled from London where nothing shuts.

    Food, friendly pub, space in room, access from car.

    Cobwebs above bed and under window near radiator, Dust on bedside lamp bases and other things, bed not made on second day, bathroom sink not cleaned on second day, tea bags not replaced on second day, a bowl of sweets that had gone off and stuck in the bowl was porovided but uneatable, difficuklt to find it is set off main road and the trees around the sign was overgrown and situated right at the junction, no advance signage.

    The room was very clean and comfortable. The food and beer in the pub were very good.

    The electric shower could do with an upgrade and was not easy to get the temperature right. The TV was old too and had quite a loud hiss.

    Friendly host, good food, near to Stourhead gardens.

    Room rather dark, it was the only one without a window at the front

    "A lovely welcome stay in the upgraded room. Not sure if I would want to stay in the bargain rooms (which I was intialy booked in for staying in). Excellent food and well kept real ales, unfortunate memory of the flies :-( " (107451508)

    Unfortunatley the room elected for my stay the heating was not working. The person checking me in upgraded me into another room wih no extra charge and couls not of been more helpdeful. Good food and real ales also good breakfast.

    There were some flies in the bar which ended up in my drink. A little off putting. Not a big matter but as I said a little off putting

    Very adequate accomodation, excellent for the price. Pleasant village pub atmosphere. Sensibly limited menu provided good wholesome pub food.

    No bad points. Good value accomodation. Not five star but far from five star price. Slight dissapointment that they could not refund and recharge the bill when I realised I had paid on the wrong credit card. My fault in the first place.

    "We were in a budget twin room which was good value for money. Despite the deficiencies we had a pleasant and peaceful stay." (108041774)

    The hotel is an attractive buiding in a lovely peaceful village location. The bed linen was excellent quality and well laundered. The cooked breakfast was delicious. The staff were cheeful and pleasant.

    We had difficulty checking in - couldn't make anyone hear us. The cold tap dripped and the shower door would not close. Our room was not serviced.

    WITHOUT PREJUDICE None.... can't think of a worse experience in a hotel, guest house or b and b and my husband has been experienced with the International Hotel Industry over the past 25 years.

    "We booked the budget room not expecting the Ritz,just a comfortable room that was clean.There was a smashed electric switch behind the headboard,no socket for one of the bedside lamps, no spare socket for the kettle, and the cold tap in the bathroom had a mind of it's own. We did not report any of the above A: Because we were only there for the one night and B: We felt that things were a bit hectic during and after breakfast and to be honest we needed to get on with our journey. Althogh we are not interested in making a formal complaint we felt we should put these observations on record. On the plus side, the local area is beautiful and the coast and longleat are within easy reach." (97465235)

    Very pretty hotel/pub/inn with a lovely room. Excellent facilities. Breakfast was lovely and the food in the pub was generous for such reasonable prices. Staff were very friendly.

    The hot water was a little tempramental. Because of our need to be at an event on time, I had to put up with a luke warm shower. By the time I'd finished, the water had kicked in and my boyfriend's shower was hot!

    it was convenient for our needs

    the shower head was blocked and the water temperture went from extremly hot to very cold which made having a shower very difficult,the fan in the bathroom made a racket and went on for a long tome when the light was off.

    Of the two rooms we booked the 'non budget room' was clean and spacious. Ample parking.

    We had two rooms of which one was a 'budget room' and whilst the charge for this room was lower the price did not reflect the much lower quality accommodation.

    room was reasonably spacious

    The weather was windy which irritatingly made the door rattle through the night. Room was rather cold although an electric heater was available for extra heating. Had to take care getting out of bed as wooden edge extended some way beyond edge of mattress making it uncomfortable to get out of. Water took a long while to run hot and water pressure didn't seem very consistent.

    Rural location. Very quiet and traditional. taff and locals very friendly. Pub was traditional and kept traditional hours. Good choice of food which was very tasty. (Spice lovers must try the Chilli!) Rooms were away from the pub itself which meant no noise. Room well furnished and clean. Bathroom well equipped and clean. Also very nice to have the room cleaned each morning. An excellent weekend.

    very clean @ comfortable bed .Bathroom area spotless.Nice to have the choice of bottled water in the room.@ an alarm clock.

    jar of mints was a nice idea but we did not use as we were unsure as to whose fingers had been in there.Sealed packets or tubes more acceptable

    "location was fairly easy to find. car parking facilites were excellent. heating was adequate. food was good. plenty of hot water.slight trouble with the t.v. reception so if we had been staying longer and wished to spend the evening viewing it would have been difficult on some digi channels."     comfortable and clean. friendly landlord/landlady. evening meals good. breakfast excellent. very accommodating and helpful.

    the bedside lamps had to be turned off at the wall which required getting out bed to do so. the main room lights were the same. we thought our tea/coffee supply would be topped up each day, but in all fairness we did not go and ask for anymore, which I think if we had, we would have been replenished without any problem.

    "Honest,well patronised,comfortable country pub. Staff efficient. Accommodation good value with minor reservations such as the door didn't have automatic security lock.Food of very good,satisfying,standard and value. Beer of high CAMRA standard.     Spacious uncluttered room and bathroom. Modern design furniture. Well-lit and energy efficient.

    Shower in bath, difficult to control on first use using the bath taps, because of high pressure.

    "The pub itself is a nice friendly pub which was quite lively on the night we stayed as it was Rugby World Cup Final The room was of adequate decor and the bed quite comfortable, plenty of parking spaces The evening we arrived I just had a barmeal of bluecheese burger and chips which i felt was quite poor quality for the price (the bun was hard and not enough blue cheese)The following morning we had to leave for work at 5:30am so we asked if it was possible for some food to be packed up as we would be too early for breakfast and it was included in the price. We were presented with a very poor quality ham roll each which I thought was quite bad (still the birds enjoyed it)" (97330195)

    Secluded but near to the Pub/Restaurant

    Bed had a wooden frame which was uncomfortable if you sat on it before getting in to bed.

    "This is a good old fashioned pub with accommodation in two separate buildings adjacent to the car park. I stayed in the 'budget' accomodation which it is a bit basic but clean & warm. Didn't see inside the non-budget rooms but from the outside it they looked a lot better! Arrived late (9.25pm) but telephoned ahead to see if they would still do us food on arrival which they did - major plus point!" (97822254)
