    The food was lovely and the staff were all very friendly and helpful

    The only one thing i would say is the room was a bit dusty in some places and a few cobwebs

    Lovely room. Accommodation set in a beautiful village, close to many other attractions.

    Chamber maids came to clean room too early; we had to wait for them to finish what they were doing before we could access the room after breakfast. They did apologise for this.

    All staff were helpful and friendly, especialy the owner who let us have breakfast in the garden. The food was fresh, the room was beautiful, with a jacuzzi bath which was very welcome after a 23 mile bike ride.

    Unexpectedly delightful - lovely village location, really individual accomodation, thoughtful & welcoming staff. Excellent food.

    Lighting in bedroom inadequate for any reading. Nothing else!

    fantastic room and en-suite , clean, helpful staff,wonderful evening meal in a lovely enviroment. home made shortbread in the room! very attractive village situation. Easy access to Uppingham and Rutland water etc.

    We stayed in the Bede cottage and this was a gem. Not directly attached to the pub, and off the main street, so it was nice and quiet. The bathroom, accessed via a spiral staircase from the bedroom, was huge and very well furnished with a huge jacuzzi, two sinks and mirrors, a large shower, and a chaise-longue. The bedroom was furnished with a firm matressed bed, was full of interesting ornaments and pictures. Breakfast was served in the pub and included some excellent local bacon and home made Rutland sausages.

    Very friendly and attentive staff; food in the restaurant was excellent - both evening meal and breakfast. Ample car parking available.

    We booked a double room but were given a twin. Could hear a fan/motor(?)running all night close to our room. Not loud but low frequency and irritating!

    Lovely old pub, especially the breakfast room: very pleasant outdoor area; quiet, especially in my room considering this was next to the road; very comfortable bed (one of the best mattresses I have slept on in any hotel anywhere here or abroad); excellent dinner and breakfast; landlady and staff very friendly and welcoming

    The only negative, an extremely minor one, was that I couldn't get the mirror light in the bathroom to work.

    Friendly, relaxing atmosphere. Rooms were of a good standard. Dinner was really good. Staff lovely, and the village pretty.

    It is a pub, not a hotel, so consequently no facilities like gym, room service etc. Maybe my nievety, but if something is decribed as a hotel I would expect it to be one...

    The hotel was easy to find and located in a well kept village. We had the Bude room - nice and quiet with an excellent power shower and his and her sinks. The meal in the restaurant was very good and quite reasonably priced. Being able to have a quiet drink in the bar afterwards was great. The breakfast was also very good and kept us going most of the day. The freshly squeezed orange juice was excellent.

    Could not get into hotel as reservation had been made over the internet but as hotel was closed at time of booking, rooms had been alocated to other people so we had to find another hotel to stop at.

    "Super place. Delightful room and super bathroom (not the one with a jacuzzi but who needs that with a bath built for two!). The staff were really friendly, professional and helpful and the food was fab. Hope we can go back again! Oh, and the teddy was a lovely touch!" (108029475)

    "Greeted by the owner who was very couteous, showed us our room and explained where everything was. The restaurant was excellent with a good coice of foods and more to be had on the specials board. The bar sells real ale, while we were there the choice was London pride, Abbott Ale, and IPA, all kept excellently with a well stocked wine cellar." (97973913)

    The room was superb, the jaccuzi fabulous.
