    The room, hotel, location, grounds were excellent

    The cooked breakfast was not worth the money especially getting warmed in the microwave

    The main hotel complex is lovely.

    I was based in an appartment at Ingleby Barwick. Stuck in the middle of a housing estate it was far removed from the setting of the main hotel and to be honest what I expected from the website.

    The booking process was excellent and very smooth. It was easy to find the information I wanted and to print out my confirmation slip.

    I made my reservation on the same day I intended to stay at the hotel. However, due to pressures of work it became clear that I could not travel up that afternoon and so I called the hotel approx 5 hours after making my reservation to cancel it. I was charged the full price (£75) for my booking. Although I was expecting to pay a deposit, I felt that being charged the whole price for a night's stay was extreme, as the booking had been made at the last minute and it was highly unlikely that I had deprived the hotel of any other business. I am self-employed and have to pay my own travel costs. I will not book there again.

    "Whilst the location and venue were good, the staff satisfactory, the overall value for money at £65 for B&B was poor. I stay in hotels 1-3 nights per week and generally spend £50-110 for B&B, all other places I have stayed (including a travel lodge) gave better overall value and quality of stay." (107935877)

    Venue was unique and welcome was genuine and warm. Breakfast was good and bathroom was clean with good shower and plenty of towels and shower gels and soaps etc.

    Toilet was loose on the floor, bed was two singles pushed together and were uncomfortable, head boards were just rested between the bed and wall and banged and kept me awake every time I moved. TV did not work very well and stations got poor reception. No staff seemed available to ask for assistance when I went in to the main reception area.

    friendly, helpful, comfortable, sparkling clean, good value and an interesting building

    plenty of coffee and milk but no tea bags in the room - the only fault (and I'm sure they would have given us some if we'd asked).

    Excellent idea to rent apartments short term and excellent value.

    Could do to have a washing machine or laundry service for planned longer stays

    Nice location and novel idea.

    It felt more like staying at someones home than a hotel. One room had a wobbly loo which was a bit unnerving!

    Good clean hotel in a quiet location with friendly staff. Huge breakfast. Bedroom included Settee and coffee / Tea making facilities so if you wanted to stay in your room it was comfortable to do so. Breakfast on a long table with other guests was novel. We had interesting discussions with the other guests including discussing local tourist sites / local towns to visit etc.

    Whilst the accomodation is very good, note that the rooms are not actually in the old mill but in an attached accomodation block

    Lovely location, peaceful, well kept grounds, the owners were pleasant, room was large and comfortable, an excellent pub just down the road from the hotel provided good evening meals. Breakfast was plentiful and very nice.

    The room hadn't been properly prepared for us when we arrived and even after the room was attended to there was still no hand towel or bath mat in the bathroom. Tea & coffee were provided but the supplies had obviously been there for some time. When we arrived in the afternoon there was no one on reception.

    The room was well furnished, spacious and clean. The reception was friendly and the home cooked breakfast was excellent!

    The room was a little too hot for our liking and it wasn't very easy to get it cooled but aside from that there was nothing to dislike

    The accommodation allowed for privacy and was immaculately clean.

    There was nothing to complain about. If anything it is rather unorthadox but that is to it's advantage.
