    "We stayed to run the edinburgh marathon. The hotel put on an early continental breakfast to support that. location great for old town, castle and princes street shopping.All staff polite, friendly and helpful." (107718624)

    Location, cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff

    noise outside the back of party revellers in the middle of the night. Parking is close by, but expensive in the recommnded St John's hill NCP (£16/24 hours)

    Room was clean and tidy

    Very noisy at night from outside and also could hear everything from the rooms next door. I was on the 6th floor.

    Friendly and helpful staff.Comfortable beds.

    Like most hotels, the lighting in the room was very dim - not helped by the absence of a bulb in one of the lights.

    very quiet room. Hotel was clean and in an excellent location. Room rate was good value.

    Room appeared to be very dated. No air conditioning/ heating control. Bathroom was old fashioned. No gym.

    "A very pleasant stay. Staff were friendly but the check in was very slow. The room was comfertable and clean but the noise outside from the cars on the cobbled street and the train station was louder than the tv but at night it traffic eased and the station was much quieter. I've stopped in a few hotels in Edinburgh and this was the cheapest and the best yet." (107950799)

    "The hotel is very well situated near the city centre. It is modern and very comfortable.The staff were very pleasant, competent and helpful. " (107276306)

    We were impressed by the high standards throughout the hotel.

    The really frustrating part was the noise at about 5a.m. with the staff collecting the green carts (linen) underneath our window.It went on for about half an hour.

    GOOD LOCATION, FRIENDLY STAFF AND A GOOD STANDARD OF ROOM FOR A FAIR PRICE

    LACK OF PARKING FACILITIES AND CAN BE NOISEY AT THE FRONT OF THE HOTEL FACING THE RAILWAY STATION.

    Good value for money.

    Some trainees on reception which slowed bdown the checkin process but overall wasnt too bad. Construction work was going on at the hotel which woke me up in the morning. I was not told about this at the time of booking though there was a sign up in the hotel lobby. Not good practice.

    "Great location. A few minutes from the train station, so not far to walk with the bags. About five minute walk to Princes street and just a few minutes to the Royal mile. We preferred the Royal mile to Princes street as it was not as busy and more places to eat and drink. The hotel was excellent and would highly recommend it." (97181429)

    Close to train station, so there was some noise, but soon got used to it.

    Location was excellent. Good value for money. Would recommend for a short break. Staff pleasant. Room was adequate but basic.

    There was a bit of a smell in the room that appeared to be coming from the bathroom. Bit like a wet cloth had been left lying.
