    Lovely rooms, nicely decorated. Views at back of hotel very pleasant.

    Bistro offered limited choice of menu and was quiet expensive in comparison to other facilities close by.

    Fair in places, large room and bathroom

    My Wife and I were told by the 'friendly' family owners to pack up and leave on second day of our 7 day stay - after making a complaint about loud and constant kitchen-fan noise outside of our 'superior' twin Dyfi room, which went on from early evening to about 9.00 pm, and possible during preparation of morning breakfasts also. Complaint was made in a dignified manner, without any 'scene' being made. Owners were not interested in offering any options to make our stay more pleasurable - we were just told to leave - even though our stay there was our main annual holiday and didn't have another hotel to go to. We live about 120 miles from the hotel. In our room we also found the plumbing noises from other rooms in the morning disturbed our sleep. We feel that if you want a relaxed and peaceful holiday avoid this hotel/room. We are in the process of starting a legal action against the hotel. Note - the Buckley Pines is a 2 star Visit Wales hotel, the hotel has awarded themselves 3 stars with regard to this (see their website which gives the star rating information - read the text, not just the heading - we didn't at the time of booking unfortunately).

    Wonderful staff and a beautiful, glorious view from our splendid bedroom window. Gay sent on my clothes which I had forgotten to pack - a very sincere thanks to her. My wife and I did so enjoy staying at this wonderful glorious hotel. Thank you all. The hotel matched the beautiful country side.

    Clean room, good food,and friendly staff.

    Kerbside appeal was terrible.We almost got back in the car and drove away. Peeling paint,flower beds full of weeds and the sign saying Hotel almost hanging off the wall. Garden area view from the lounge was again spoilt by run down and shabby appearance.The breakfast room was charmless with chairs stacked in one corner,with again a view of the shabby garden. The bedroom was a very bright yellow which did not match the pretty bed linen. The bed,we were told it was one of thier best creaked every time we moved a muscle.The pictures on the walls looked cheap with the exception of the one above the bed which did compliment the bed linen and curtains,but what were those plastic Sunflowers all about? I found the soap and shampoo dispensers impossible to use.I squeezed as hard as I could but could not get a drop out.

    A good clean hotel, the room we had was large (kingsize bed)as was the bathroom The breakfast was excellent, as was the hospitality of the owners and other family members

    The hotel is isolated, so the evening meal had to be taken at the hotel, which we found a little on the expensive side

    The Proprietor, and her daughter made us very welcome, and we loved the room, social areas and scenery/location, and would thoroughly recommend this small Hotel for a comfortable few days in the idyllic countryside.

    A telephone in the room would be useful as the mobile signal is a bit "iffy" in the area.

    Would prefer toiletries to soap dispensers. Kettle a bit awkward to use for old fogies!

    Outstanding food, both in the bistro and at breakfast. Warm and friendly atmosphere created by the hosts. Lovely setting for peace and ease of exploring the area.

    Comfortable room with a good sized bathroom. Enjoyed being able to make our own toast at breakfast rather than having a toast rack of toast being brought too early which then gets cold and soggy.

    Great bed and bath! Very clean and had tea, coffee and treats in the room. Very gracious staff. The staff tried to meet our every need. Lovely views in the dining room and bedroom. Food was very good with ample selection. Great pub!

    We chose to eat at the establishment. It took a little longer than we had expected.

    I thought the room was beautiful, very comfortable with excellent facilities. The bathroom was enormous with shower cubicle as well as large 2 person bath.The bedroom was also very large with beautiful furnishings.The staff were very obliging the setting was excellent will certainly recommend it to others. It was to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary and was money well spent.

    Bedroom, bath and dining room very clean and well kept. Food good. Beautiful views.

    Although we were aware there was no full-time receptionist, it was a bit off-putting to find the front door locked at the time when guests would be expected to be arriving.

    "We had a very good weekend break and it was a pleasure to return in the evenings after a busy day's touring. The hotel has a great deal of character and the decor made it feel like a grand house. Ideally placed for coast and inland travel. " (97218530)

    Everything was clean (toilet, towels etc). Hosts very friendly. Bistro menu varied and value for money. Good bar. A good breakfast choice (excellent fried eggs!) in the restaurant looking down onto a stream and the valley - beautiful.

    "My wife and I had a really lovely stay at this hotel. The owners instantly made us feel comfortable and at home. The facilities were excellent and the cleanliness was first class. The pub area was pleasant and the food was first rate too. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for the 'real thing'. It's a perfect base for many of Wales north westerly and central attractions and has beautiful views of it's own. My only regret is that I should have offered to buy the landlord a drink the evening before we left as a way of saying thanks; sorry Keith." (97493499)

    Very pleasant atmophere, lovely staff and great food. The room was excellent even as one of their smaller rooms. We felt very relaxed and had a lovely stay.

    Everything was perfect - lovely cosy room with fantastic views, great food and friendly staff who made our visit relaxed and comfortable. Shame we could only stay for one night.

    "This hotel cannot be faulted if you are looking for somewhere to stay with unrivaled views of the Welsh countryside, the owners are very friendly and accommodating. I stayed in the Snowdon room which appeared to have recently had the bathroom refitted, the shower in particular was excellent. I was surprised at just how far from Machynlleth the hotel is and it was rather quiet, only one other guest. I would recommend the Buckley Pines to anyone seeking a get away from it break as you are pretty much guaranteed peace and quiet, even my mobile phone had no service." (97409803)

    "we had our evening meals on both nights that we stayed, the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Very good choice of wines and I enjoyed the beer.
