    "Comfortable." (108285390)

    Bed linen, curtains, towels excellent quality. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice display of breakfast options.

    Our room was very warm and we didnt work out the radiator themostat. Due to single glazing and location of hotel (being near late night club, food places) it was very noisy during the night.

    "gREAT STAY AND WOULD RETURN TO THIS HOTEL - STAFF WHERE EXCELLENT AND VERY HARD WORKING." (108212458)

    Hotel was in good postion for touring and staff where excellent.

    TV - HAD FREEVIEW WHICH WAS EXCELLENT DID'T EXPECT - BUT KEPT FAILING TO WORK SO NO TV - GAVE UP AFTER 1 NIGHT.

    Hotel room was clean and comfertable Hotel well located for central Edinburgh Hotel resonably priced,good breakfast

    Difficult to locate as there are no signs,looks grubby from front No lift long climb to 3rd floor No bar

    Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Clean room and bathroom.

    Very 'tatty'looking exterior. No sign to say it was York House Hotel. Room very basic - no 'frills'. Shower very small and nowhere in bathroom to put toiletries. TV not working and two lights in room not working.

    "Even though it calls itself a hotel, it's really a B&B as those are the only amenities offered. There are no public rooms or elevator. The front door is locked 24/7 and the reception is not, so when you arrive you may wait on the stoop until someone leaves or comes in. The room was clean and large." (107495557)

    Room exceeded expectations. Great location. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast.

    TV was almost unusable (Floor 2, back room) b/c the channels got stuck and would not reflect the channel number it said it was on. Also, very loud noises at the back of the hotel at night. First night was especially bad as people were yelling and swearing for about 20 minutes around midnight. Also, their website is out of date. Initially, I was unsure whether the hotel was legitimate since the website was poor and did not allow for online booking. (I booked through the B&B site of course.) Also, it was very difficult to locate a phone number online and I could never find an email address. As someone booking from the US, I am always skeptical booking with a company the does not have this info prominently displayed.

    "Very good, but if you are elderly there is no lift to floors. It is very central to shops, bus station etc. just minutes away. Train station just 10mins walk." (107738889)

    Breakfasts were excellent and you got your own cereals, drinks and toast, very quick and handy. Service was good.

    Very noisy with traffic and people passing outside if you are on the front and 1st floor bedrooms. Bathroom has nowhere to put your toiletries.

    "Nice and central but I'd rather have paid £15 more for a Travelodge room where the qality of accommodation is far higher. Not impressed with the 2.5% addition to the price simply for paying by debit card!" (107698233)

    Friendly and helpful receptionist, lovely hot shower, good breakfast.

    Very poor sound-proofing on windows, made far worse by roadworks in the street outside commencing early in the morning. The room was very small and decor rather tired. Unable to get even BBC1 on the TV and no-one on reception in the evening to assist.

    Bedding/towels exceptionally clean. Toilet/bathroom area very clean. Good selection at breakfast and generous amount.

    No Hotel sign on outside of building, wasnt sure if I had the right place at first. Curtains in room could not be pulled together fully. Had to use safety pin to keep them together.

    "Very pleasent stay if only we had not had a delay at railway station comming home and ofcourse Scotland won the rugby." (107661316)

    Very near to railway station and shopping centre. Staff very friendly Breakfast excellent, have recommended hotel to friends.

    T.V. did not work but that was only a minor thing .

    This hotel was superb. Excellent staff, could not do enough to help us. Great location for all the sites and shops. Would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

    I called to find the hotel and was given very good directions then a staff member waited outside to greet me to ensure that I found the hotel. I was given a lovely room and service was wonderful

    Good, clean, basic accomodation with friendly, helpful staff and great location. Good value for money.

    The name 'hotel' is a bit misleading. Really more of a B & B than a hotel. No hairdryer in room, free wireless signal not present on top floor, no lift.
