    "We had an enjoyable weekend in Stratford but this was due to the excellent entertainment at the theatre which was the reason for our visit. " (108714885)

    The hotel was central and we were able to have a drink in the bar on our return at 11pm. The staff we met were pleasant.

    The car park was a short drive away and we needed to go into the hotel to pick up a voucher for it. The room we had was quite a long walk along a corridor, but we thought this might make it less noisy. However the rooms were not well sound-proofed, understandable for a hotel of its age, but we were woken at 6am by noises from the room directly above. At breakfast there was no-one to take our order for a cooked breakfast so we had to have the 'continental option'which we would not have chosen.

    Room was large and well maintained with lots of character. Staff were very helpfull and friendly

    Parking was difficult to find more directions would be helpful

    "A twin room for £70 in such a beautiful old hotel in a great location is certainly good value. It was just little bits and bobs that weren't quite right, which was OK for myself and my niece, but could be improved upon. I should state that nothing was bad enough for me to request another room though." (108458014)

    Very helpful and professional staff, perfect location, good value. The hotel looks beautiful outside and in the public areas and corridors - the prints in the corridors and room are lovely.

    The website stated all rooms had flat screen TVs, our room just had a portable TV. The trouser press did not work. I had to go and ask for a teaspoon to make tea and there were 2 cups but only one saucer. We had to sleep at the foot end of the beds because the floor sloped downwards toward the head of the bed, but that can't be helped in an old hotel! One of the valances was badly stained with what I hope was coffee - I did inform the staff the next morning and she said we should have asked to be moved, but it was just so they could ensure it was replaced for the next guests really. The twin beds were on casters and they shifted about very easily when sat or moved upon.

    Excellent location within the town centre Friendly staff Lots of character especially in the old parts of the Hotel.

    The rooms that face the front and main road are very noisy, due to old tudor windows and inadequate sound proofing. Matress in room 105 was very old and uncomfortable, very springy :-( A lot of cobwebs in the hotel, in rooms and halls etc

    The staff were friendly and helpful.

    Room uncomfortably hot during heatwave, not helped by lack of blind or curtain in bathroom into which the sun streamed. We left the bedroom curtains closed to keep out the sun & keep the room cool but the cleaners opened them again so it was very hot at the end of the afternoon/evening. I know you can't expect air conditioning in this age of hotel but electric fans could have been provided.

    Staff were most helpful at all times

    The room was freezing ! The heating only come on at 21.00 and I had to ask for some heating. The bathroom was always cold - no heating at all, although there was a heated towel rail which was never on.

    Good centrally located hotel. Friendly staff

    Strong dislike of generic booking telephon lines --- staff don't know anything about the hotel / area, etc. Would much prefer to be able to ring the hotel directly to make a booking. In fact I so dislike these booking line things so much that I will definitely avoid any hotel which I can't ring directly to make a booking.

    Good location, and fundamentally a nice building, but the genuine features are pretty compromised by a lot of later mess.

    Looks like it last had a makeover in 1972. Nothing about it was actually PLEASING, though as noted above, it was adequate. I was annoyed to have to wait 20 minutes to check out because the receptionis couldn't be found

    Polite staff and good service at breakfast.

    I booked a feature room online. I was called at work to explain that the room was double booked and I was offered an executive room. I explained that i would like an old room in the original part of the hotel because that was why I chose the hotel in the first place. On arrival we were in a room with fake beams right at the back of the hotel. Would rather have been told in advance that this would be the case so I could book a hotel room with some character instead. I appreciate trying to make the rooms look original but unfortunately it hasn't worked. i'm not being snobby. I just stay in a lot of hotels with work so when I stay in a hotel for leisure I try to look for a room with a bit of originality and character.

    Friendly staff, excellent price, accommodation and location

    Only comment would be that when the bar closed in the evening there was only a night porter on duty who not only had to man the desk but also attend customers wanting drinks, which seemed too much for one person!

    The hotel was excellent. Dead Centre for everything.My husband and I we slept like logs. We where in room 42. If I stayed again ( and I definately would ) I would request that room again. thanks

    Only down point. I absolutly love banoffee pie and it wasn't the best. Think the chef needs a little more practice. Also my friends had a little trouble sleeping as the bar down the street Oscars was very loud. I think this would put a lot of people off.

    Hotel was in a great location for the town and the staff were very accomodating.

    The room was right at the back of the hotel and was a trek to get to with the luggage. I guess this can't be helped though!
