    Room was contemporary in style and well appointed - clean and fresh. Lots of space and quiet at night. Staff were friendly and very accommodating - going the extra mile to arrange a taxi booking for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again if in the area.

    "Second time we have stayed and we'll come back again. We do book to visit the Hardwick but the standard of food offered at Plasderwen is also very good and we may spend longer next time enjoying the hotel. Really can't fault the service though, thank you!" (107881600)

    Love the friendly and informal service. The room price is great value and the bar is reasonably priced. Food also lovely! We stayed in the 'outside' rooms this time which were a real revelation, lovely and modern (and big).

    The room was good, on the whole clean and well appointed. Parking was good and appeared to be secure. The hotel was well situated to use both the local facilities in Abbegavenny and also surrounding areas. The room was clean and towels and bed linen changed daily. The staff were without exception pleasant and helpful but particularly at breakfast the staff seemed to be inexperienced and not confident in dealing with guests and anticipating their needs

    The bathroom was not dirty but looked a little tired. There were no shelves/ cupboards to place toilelteries on and insufficient towel rails to place towels etc. This meant that towels remained damp. There was no seal on the bottom of the shower, which therefore, allowed water to leak all over the floor. This had affected the skirting board and the bath side. The was no light over the bathroom mirror, which made shaving difficult. The breakfast was adequate, but could easily have been so much better. I have to say they served the worse scrambled egg that I have ever tried to eat and this was at the second attempt after sending the first lot back to the kitchen! The coffee was not fresh, only white toast was offered and butter was provided in small foil wrapped packs. The fruit juice was reconstituted and though fresh fruit was available it was limited in both amount and variety. The variety of cereals provided was limited as were the preserves. Other hotels in this price range do this so much better!

    Linited staff and therefore cannot expect first class service.

    Lovely room, comfortable bed

    Room too hot at night, heating on in June! Breakfast service a bit slow, not offered tea or toast and as we were in a hurry we didn't bother to ask.

    "Brilliant - JUST CHANGE THE SINK IN THE BATHROOM!" (107456787)

    very spacious, clean room. friendly, well informed staff. good parking right outside room. rooms were separate from the pub area - different buliding annex so you don't have to worry about when you get back.the breakfast was EXCELLENT! nice and close to train station - but no noise from trains.

    all in all excellent - only thing that was a bit wierd was the INCREDIBLY TINY hand basin in the VERY large bathroom, they could easily fit a full size sink in!!!! I ended up brushing my teeth in the bath because it was SO small and very low down!!!

    Staff, food and service was good. Dining room, bar area and location were excellent

    Bedroom had cobwebs, an uncomfortable bed (for us) and no flat surfaces for luggage. Bathroom had nowhere to hang a robe, a tiny mirror that didn't magnify so shaving was a work of art and no ventilation. Staff performed some domestic duties at bar tables in front of patrons

    Very clean and spacious room, nicely away from the main pub.

    pricing was misleading, when booking it said it included a 61% discount at £59. The actual room rates normally when we arrived there were £75 for a double room. I am not sure how this equates to a 61% discount. Evening meal was far too salty

    the setting of the hotel very good .we had a lovely room in the grounds of the hotel.The staff made you feel very welcome and the meal we had in the restaurant was verygood .

    we really enjoyed our stay would return one day to this hotel only thing was no toast with breakfast.

    "We were staying at the hotel for one night whilst attending a nearby wedding. The owners were incredibly welcoming and allowed us to check into our rooms two hours early. They booked taxis for us and made us a bacon sandwich wrapped up in tin foil in the morning as we had to get straight on the road! Rooms were beautiful and spacious and located in separate outbuildings so easy to access with own key (made it easier when coming back late at night). We will definitely be back and have already recommended the hotel to relatives!" (107443311)

    Lovely hotel and surroundings, very friendly, helpful staff and well placed for Abergavenny and trips into the the National Park. Would definately stay again.

    Only very minor, could have done with a few more tea bags and a bit more milk...but then I never asked!

    A well situated hotel/restaurant for exploring abergavenny and surrounding area. The hotel had pleasing decor with a very pleasant eating area. the food was good with a interesting menu. All the staff were helpful.

    The staff were excellent. friendly and extremely helpful. Great atmosphere which made us feel very welcome. Food was very good also. Surroundings were ideal situated in its own ground near to the town centre. Overall a very welcoming expereience which we are sure to try again.

    Too hot in places within the hotel.

    Rooms need Sitting Chair..TV only had local channels and nowhere to hang coats and in bathroom small shelf over washbasin but no other place to put wash bag etc.

    WE were made to feel welcome right from the minute we walked in and this continued throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and the manageress and staff were excellent. The food was of a high standard and the smoked salmon probably the best that I have tasted.

    Heating in the room was not working when we arrived but as with everything else during our stay, this was sorted out quickly without a fuss.

    Excellent customer service all round- great quality food and drink, attention to detail (ie ordering us a taxi and reporting back when done). Friendly and welcoming, good value for money.

    None really- except room was perhaps a little too warm at times and window would not stay open.

    Room 7 was excellent in its facilities, comfort, and quiet position - plus we were able to park my car immediately in front of the room. We also liked the fact that the prices of evening meals at the hotel were very reasonable. All members of staff we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful.

    Staff were really friendly, the room was really clean, food was delicious. We had a really relaxing evening.
