    Accommodation, location, food

    We had a room at the back, at the front on the A49 side might have been noisy.

    "This hotel was acceptable for our purpose. We needed accomodation close to Craven Arms to attend a family funeral. Until the rooms are updated I do not think I would stay there for any length of time, however for 1 or 2 nights it was ok." (108432283)

    The public areas of the hotel were very presentable and clean, the evening meal & breakfast was of a good standard.

    The bedrooms are very tired and dated. No actual shower facilities although there is a hand held option within the bath. I understand these are being refurbished over the next few years.

    The hotel itself was excellent: friendly, helpful staff; Full english breakfast.

    The hotel did not recieve my internet booking. Fortunately, they had one room left. The Google map link is way out: The Hotel is on the A49, but the web site only provided a Google link that took us away from the A49 (Check it!)

    Good service. Clean. Conveniant location

    Poor shower arrangements, poor TV reception, quantity of food at meals was good but let down by quality.

    Food:the sort which gives English cuisine a bad reputation with Continentals. Kitchen closes - firmly - at 9pm for dinner, and 9am forBreakfast (even on Sunday). Management declined to give us key to get in after 12.30am.

    Large car park

    The Hotel was listed in Church Stretton which was about 5 miles north, it was actually closer to Craven Arms and is poorly signed if travelling from Church Stretton. There was a very unpleasant smell as we entered the hotel which was there for the whole of our stay and the staircase to our rooms smelt of cat's urine. The rooms were poorly furnished and difficult to move around. The bathroom had a mixer tap/shower but there was no shower screen or curtain nor anywhere to hang the shower head. On the second night we were told that we could only have the carvery which was almost inedible on the first night. The whole experience was very disappointing as we were with friends who were visiting from Australia. This did not give a good impression of our tourist industry.

    Hotel was good, food was excellent - pity we could only stay one night ............

    We booked for two nights - but the hotel did not receive our booking from you and so they were not expecting us. It was forntunate that they had a room for that night - but none for the second night - so we had to abandon our stay and come home early. I will not be using your booking service again.

    Staff were welcoming and the food was excellent. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

    Shower attachment to bath was poor. Water was either cold or too hot.

    Excellent food, waiting and bar staff were very helpful and courteous. Room was clean, fresh and tidy. Courtesy tray was also well stocked.

    Extremely uncomfortable beds. Beds seemed to be very old. No overhead shower in the bathroom.

    "It is impossible to justify the four stars on your web-site. The location is beside a very busy road, the rooms have no view, and the address is wrong. It is not in Church Stretton, but about 4 miles away. " (108084958)

    The staff were friendly and helpful.

    The television did not work properly. And although the staff tried to get it mended for the second night, it only worked on one channel. The hot tap in the small bathroom ran throughout the night. It was difficult to sleep owing to the creaking of the boards etc on the floor above until 2.00 am. The breakfast was poor, and the coffee tasteless.

    Location was very good although the first room offered was too close to a main A road - the stafff were very friendly and helpful

    the rooms were in a poor decorative condition. The shower was no more than a bath // shower mixer without shower curtain and bracket

    "Would not return. The unanumous view of people locally is to avoid it at all costs, and whatever you do, do not eat the breakfast. We therefore left without having breakfast, which was included in the cost." (108065106)

    Inexpensive for 3 adults to stay in one room, and which was not easy to find, so this was a plus point. Also the room size was substantial and very suitable for 3 adults. Finally, double glazing, although essential being on a main road, was excellent and the room was clean.

    The staff were very casual - we were not made to feel especially welcomed, but seemed to be disturbing staff of their 'proper' work. Entrance was at the rear, through a number of waste bins and motorbikes! The shower did not work - water being either chilling or scalding - and everything creaked when you came into contact, such as floorboards, bed etc.
