"We liked the hotel and the people who own it. The position of the hotel, being 10 miles outside of Dorchester, meant that evenings would probably be spent in the hotel - but the friendliness was good." (107690933)
Very friendly atmosphere. Food was excellent.

Hotel very clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent, well cooked and presented with lots of choice. Nice to see local beers behind the bar. Lovely rural location.
No mobile phone signal and very rural location might not suit everyone.

The Fox Inn is a lovely place to stay with lots of charming character, nice rooms and facilities. Have recommended the Fox Inn to friends of ours too and may well book again ourselves too in the near future.

"It was pleasant enough and perfectly adequate for our overnight stay. If you want good food and a clean comfortable bed and ensuite facilities at a reasonable price this hotel fits the Bill. Although not a lot in Ansty itself, it is a good area in which to reside when exploring the surrounding area." (107178572)
The evening meal was excellent - full of flavour and there was a good choice of menu. Equally, the breakfast was probably the best we have had in many years - the bacon in particular was fabulous. The slanting roof in Room 8 proofed a little difficult when first entering the room. Had to remember to duck when going into bed. However, the bed was enormous and very very comfortable. (the linen for this bed must have cost an absolute fortune). The hotel was warm, and we noticed the contrast right away when we entered the room - it was a bit on the cold side, although I presume the window had been open all day - we arrived about 8 p.m. Ensuite facilities were also very good with plenty of hot water. Proprietor was very understanding and didn't charge us any extra even although we got the weekend we booked mixed up and arrived a week late.
The staff didn't seem to have any sense of urgency. We found we had to wait quite a while for someone to arrive at the reception desk when we first arrived. Similarly, the dining room staff didn't really go out of their way to instruct us where to sit, take our order, and ask if we wanted anything to drink - in the end we went to the bar and purchased the drinks ourselves. Although a very nice hotel, the decor was a little dated in the public areas, and seemed to lack a bit of atmosphere. Perhaps could have benefitted from a little bit of gentle background music. We expected a lively village pub, and instead there were 6 other guests in the dining room, with perhaps 6 - 8 others in and around the reception areas.

very clean, very friendly and helpful proprietors - helped us contact our hotel from the previous nights as we had forgotten some items - excellent food in restaurant.
Cot was a bit small for a 14 year old girl and squeaked when ever she moved so she kept waking up

We stayed bed and breakfast, and got up to have breakfast over looking the lovely garden. We found the staff all very helpful and friendly, and had dinner there once which was out of this world... Would definately recommend and will return!
Window in our room didn't open but they had provided a fan, unfortunately we were having a heatwave!

Great location (for walks) Comfortable / clean in all aspects. Very good food and Bfst and evening. Fine selection of beer. Wonderful welcome by hosts. Perfect Inn for short break.
None, although one would have liked selection of fresh fruit and low fat butter at breakfst. But this is being perhaps unfair as quality of food was first class.

Very comfortable, friendly, felt at home as soon as we pulled into the car park. Ambience of hotel was welcoming and relaxing. An hotel worthy of recommendation. Complimentary toiletries and hospitality tray were both excellent, extras were offered when requested.
Creaky floor (charterful!) and leak at back of toilet bowl which was immediately seen to and fixed.

Could have done with some fresh fruit at breakfast. Also a cafetiere of coffee would have been better as we found that the coffee went cold very quickly. Otherwise the breakfast was excellent.
