    "Parking is very limited with on street parking which is permit controlled, so if car park at rear of building is full it is difficult to park. We had to park at front of pub on the pavement. The pub is situated on a busy T-junction and is therefore fairly noisy (a problem if you are a light sleeper). Room would benefit from double glazing to cut out the noise. Breakfast was sufficient, but was not laid up when we went down, althoug we were down at the specified time. No table cloths, and food was set out on a shelf (when it was brought out). Had the feeling of being in a transport cafe. We would not stay at theis venue again, and our first impression on arrival was not to bother to enter , but we did. Room was clean and tidy, but the building overall looks a little tired. We appreciated that it is an old building, but do feel that it would benefit from a bit of a refurb. " (107616237)

    nice room , nice staff , nice evening meal.

    two car carpark ,breakfast continental or full english 8.30 which meant no breakfast for business travellers.

    Clean, tidy bedrooms and ensuites. Pleasant staff. Staff kindly offered (with no request from us) to make up an additional camp bed in one of our 2 rooms so that our 2 teenagers would not have to share a double bed.

    Bed squeaked every time we moved, and wasn't very comfortable. Pub 'car park' pretty much limited to 1 vehicle so parking could have been an issue if more guests had been staying at same time. However, large public car park fairly close by.

    Nice, friendly pub.

    Terrible mattress, poor breakfast, scantily and cheaply furnished room. No fresh towels each day. On checkout, the manager told me that my colleagues had "wrecked their room." He was very rude. I inspected the room and saw NOTHING untoward. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I will go back to the Wessex next time.

    "The whole experience was disappointing, so we only stayed for one night instead of the 3 we had booked. Fortunately our short holiday was redeemed when we found much better accommodation in Weymouth for the other 2 nights. We will in future be very cautious about booking a hotel on the internet for more than an overnight stay. " (107768117)

    There were no good points.

    The reception was very unwelcoming. We had booked for 3 nights and payment was demanded in advance, which we refused, we paid for one night only. There was no food available on the evening we arrived, contrary to what is advertised on the website, because they were running a gambling event in the pub. Breakfast was supposed to start at 8:30am, but access to the pub from the bedroom was still locked at 8:30am because the staff had not arrived. We therefore had to wait for 20 minutes and when breakfast arrived it was very poor. There is no parking nearby, contrary to what is claimed on the website. Parking is for permit holders only and the hotel did not offer us a permit nor offer any help to find parking. The location is unattractive, not at all what we expected. We therefore checked out after one night and found a wondeful guest house in Weymouth for the 2 other nights of our short break in Dorset.

    "The landlord took the money for the room up front and charged a extra £6 for a full English breakfast. We agreed that I would take breakfast at 7.30 the next morning. By 9.15 there was still no sign of anyone in the kitchen and the bar/ breakfast place was locked. I left hungry. The room the night before was extremely noisy owing to the disco in the bar downstairs - I could barely hear the TV and sleep was next to impossible. " (107300890)

    "OK FOR A COUPLE OF NIGHTS. THE ROOM WAS FINE BUT THE STAIR WAY COULD BE CLEARED OF DOMESTIC ITEMS AND A STAIR LIGHT WOULD BE IN ORDER AS IT COULD BE A BIT DARK" (108078279)

    STAFF HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY AND WILL SORT OUT ANY PROBLEMS. THE ROOM WAS LARGE AND AIRY. IT WAS ONLY A FEW MINUTES WALK INTO TOWN AND THE NOISE OF TRAFFIC WAS MINIMAL SO AS NOT TO DISTURB.

    WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WERE NOT ALLOWED INTO THE ROOM BEFORE 4PM EVEN THOUGH WE HAD TELEPHONED THREE DAYS BEFORE TO CONFIRM THAT IT WOULD BE OK TO BOOK IN BETWEEN 12 AND 1230 PM TO CHANGE FOR A WEDDING AT 1PM. AS A RESULT A DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE WHERE THE STAFF EVENTUALLY AGREED BUT THE ROOM WAS UNTIDY AND THE BED WAS NOT MADE. THEY COULD ALSO PUT A SMALL BIN IN THE ROOM FOR RUBBISH.

    ROOMS CLEAN

    NO GLASSES -HAD MY G&T IN A CUP AND SAUCER ONLY CURRY WAS BEING SERVED IN THE DINING ROOM SO HAD TO GET A TAXI AND EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE. BREAKFAST WASN'T GOING TO BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 08:30 - WHEN COMPLAINED A STAFF MEMBER AGREED TO COME IN ONLY TOAST AND CEREAL AVAILABLE - CARTON OF MILK WAS JUST PUT ON THE TABLE STRAIGHT FROM THE DOORSTEP. NO JUICE OR FRUIT WAS AVAILABLE COMPARED TO A PREMIER TRAVEL INN OR TRAVELODGE IT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE

    Very central to the main town, rooms very clean, staff very polite, very good value for the money

    At the front it was very noisy with the traffic, one night the window frames rattled with the wind could do with double glazed windows.

    Very pleasant clean hotel, friendly staff

    Despite booking B & B and confirming breakfast time on check-in, nobody turned up in the hotel to give us breakfast. The door into the bar from the bedrooms was locked. Full payment was made on arrival. I e-mailed the hotel after returning home but no reply received after two days.
