"The accommodation we needed (twins en suite) was difficult to find in the area at the price we were willing to pay, so we were glad to find Nethermains but we stayed other places that were much nicer for a similar rate." (107699653)
Pleasant surroundings, comfortable bed, good hot water, very convenient for where we were going the next day- the Arran Ferry
There was a smoking room and the door was not kept closed so we could smell the smoke in our rooms as well as through the house. The directions to the house could have been better- you had to go round a roundabout and return the way you came for a mile or so and take a road signposted Kilwinning then the house was immediately on the right. There was no B&B sign. Breakfast was just okay and it was served reluctantly. The showers didn't drain away well so you were standing in water and it looked as if the tray would overflow if you stayed too long.

Very friendly welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely breakfast made to order.
Just a minor point, but the shower water did not drain away very quickly in the ensuite attached to the double bedroom on the ground floor. I forgot to tell the owner as we were rushing to leave for the wedding.

"Friendly owner just recently started in the B and B business. Very helpful. Even gave us a lift to the wedding reception." (107248384)
Clean rooms and friendly staff. Owner was very helpful.
Some building work still to be complete. Smoking inside the building was a bit of a shock as we had to go through a lounge heavy with smoke. Cooked breakfast could have been improved. Egg under done and scone and square sausage greasy.

"Active hotels should review mis-leading decriptions given by accomodation like this. If we had known that we would have a double room with wafting kitchen smells to waken us up. A shared toilet in the hall an a shower room on the next floor shared with the other rooms, we would not have stayed. All in all a horrible weedend." (107216316)

The people greeted us very warmly. They couldn't do enough to make sure we had a comfortable stay. They were gracious hosts.
The house itself is situated just off a motorway, quite a distance from Irvine which is where we expected to stay, and we had difficulty getting there. Also, the house is quite musty and the smell of air fresheners in the rooms was a little overpowering.

"We were under the impression when we booked that we would have an en suite bathroom but this turned out to be two bathrooms shared on the landing - this didn't pose a problem to us as the hotel wasn't too busy, but could if you needed to get ready quickly. " (107109071)
The hotel was lovely and clean.
You do not get given a front door key so if you arrive back later than 11pm you may get locked out, this happened to us and made us feel a bit uncomfortable having to ring the doorbell and get the owner to let us in.

This was an excellent hotel the owner was very friendly and could not do enough for us. It was a very comfortable place to stay like home from home.

"The lady who runs the hotel had no booking for us and we were literally kicked out as she argued that we had no right to be there and that we were ineffect breaking and entering even though i had a booking ref no and confirmation direct from her on the 21st oct 2008 she was horrible she had obviously double booked and did not know how to get out of it " (107772894)
