    Hotel generally was musty, room was small with no TV (must have been extra), radiator temo valve was hanging off, toilet in room was disgusting, breakfast was served in the BAR - musty. I would not stay here again or recommend for anyone to stay here, I have had much better for the same or less money.

    "We registered early as we were passing, en route to our daughter, and had to pay the full amount on registration not on leaving. We could not leave the suitcase or see the room, unless we paid an extra £10. " (108341994)

    Very good breakfast -- well cooked

    The TV had no remote and the volume could not be changed. Only one bedside light. No mirror in bathroom. Bathroom door did not close properly. Shower head was very dirty with limescale.

    Food was very good and staff were very nice and friendly. There was no shortage of hot water and the location was oposite a very pretty and old church. The hotel is not far from Whitby, Scarborough, Filey, Robin Hoods Bay and York and very close to Eden Camp.

    No TV but it was clean and inexpensive and that is the main thing. Room was a little old but what can you expect in an old building.

    "We did not enjoy our stay and went out after breakfast returning late so as not to spend time in the hotel. As we had stayed here before and enjoyed it as it had a lovely atmosphere nice restuarant and friendly tidy staff we were extremely disappointed. Gone the restaurant and the nice bars to be replaced with pool tables, fruit machines and tacky memorabilia. It is now a tacky pub with rooms. Very sad!" (108084541)

    No information regarding meals given at check in, no reception only at bar. Meals eaten in bar area including breakfast. Curtains not fitting, extremely uncomfortable bed you could feel springs had to sleep on duvet. Shower not enough water and old. No tiles on wall or floor in gents toilet, dirty sinks. Dirty linen left on landing all the time we were there. ~I did take photos of this and ill fitting curtains.

    "Terrible" (107409396)

    the breakfast was OK but service was slow

    This hotel was terrible. Bar smells of sick. Room had 1inch gap under the door, old fashioned scuffed furniture, no TV, no bedside lights. no phone, a kettle from the 1970s. I am writing to complain - this is certainly NOT a £70 a night hotel - very disappointing

    We detected a strong smell of disinfectant and vomit as soon as we entered the hotel. We had a look at the rooms we had booked, which were perhaps just adequate, but the general atmosphere was so unpleasant that we did not make use of our reservation.

    breakfast was fine.parking OK

    whole place tired.strange smell permeates downstairs. bar staff sniffed continuously. tv in room did not work. bed awful. towels thin. sound proofing between rooms bad.

    Online booking was easy to use. The bed linen was clean. When there was no record of the booking on arrival I was given a complimentary coffee while I waited.

    Unclear where to go on arrival - through a hallway and then across a large bar to find the reception - so felt unwelcoming. There was no record of the booking on arrival and it took a while to sort it out as the manager was held up in traffic. Room was basic, bathroom needed refurbishing. Room was on the first floor above the bar, there was karoake all evening, then loud music.There was no mention that this would/could be the case. The evening meal was served from 5.30 - 7.45pm, may not be suited to adults wanting a dinner.

    "Rooms okay but a bit pricey for an okay room." (107136044)

    Breakfast was good --freshley cooked, not buffet style.

    We would have appreciated being warned that there was a disco in our hotel right below our room until midnight on the thye night we stayed - it is a regular fixture so there is no excuse.

    "For how much it cost, it was fine for a stopover." (107133226)

    The Hotel is well placed with easily accesible free parking. Staff were friendly and accomodating.

    The hotel had a 'worn' feel to it. Although the room was clean, it was in need of some updating!
