    well presented and enjoyable evening meal, good location to seafront,shops & ferries. good to have residents only outside seating area

    dissapointed as no cereals,yoghurt,toast or preserves offered at breakfast. expensive parking unless lucky enough to purchase permit from hotel. bedroom would have been even better with seating for two

    "Really enjoyed it and would stay again. The hotel had an excellent menu and at a reasonable price. However, we decided on a change of venue for the second night and Southsea has a great choice of restuarants from all over the world, which are only a few yards away. Portsmouth itself, Spinnaker Tower, Dockyard, etc, is within easy reach and is quite a pleasant stroll along the seafront. We were quite surprised by the size of the room, which was more than adequate with a good size on-suite to boot. Overall excellent." (107830947)

    Parking is a bit expensive in the public car parks, but to be fair the hotel did manage to provide a parking pass for the second night, which they didn't charge us for

    We thought the style, feel and staff were excellent. Despite being let down by staff, they managed to prepare a quick but great full English breakfast; was delicious. The location is great as it is very close to shops and the beach...Made my weekend in Portsmouth

    Parkplatz sehr teuer, Hotel und Personal machten insgesamt einen ungepflegten Eindruck, Frühstück war zur regulären Zeit nicht vorbereitet.

    Nice establishment, helpful staff, good location did a splendid job when 'problem' arose (see comment on breakfast)

    only fly in ointment: Advised of breakfast timings at check in, not advised cooked breakfast option finished 40 mins before breakfast service ended.

    Friendly staff and very good room with four poster bed. Shower room very clean and tidy. Roomy shower and plenty of towels.

    Price of evening meal would have been a bit steep so we ate out.

    Exellent location with easy walking to shops, sea and parks. Very friendly and effecient staff. Great individually cooked to order breakfasts! Nice relaxed modern bar area with large plasma screens.

    None really apart from no private parking. There is a public car park right outside the front door but at £10 per 24 hours a sum to remember when booking.

    "WE LOVED THIS HOTEL. I am amazed it has been open less than 6 months. The standard of the service and sheer quality of this location are fantastic. The staff were wonderful and we would certainly come back. In this world of the mega hotel were you are a reservation number and not a person the indiviual attention is amazing. We will never stay in one of the mega hotels nearby whilst this little diamond is around. " (107835954)

    The room was absolutely beautiful (We stayed in the four poster one as it was a special occasion) The staff were faultless,extremely professional but friendly and helpful (calling taxis and directing us to a restaurant). Superb value for money (You would pay more at some of the souless monolith hotels nearby for rooms of a much poorer standard)

    Only one they were minus a chef on the date we stayed so could not supply evening meals themselves. But the staff advised us of a fantastic local restaurant we could go to and as they sent us we got 2 free glasses of wine. A lot of hotels would have probably left us to our own devices.

    "Our stay was very frustratiing as it was a lovely hotel, which could have been excellent had the owners taking a little more care of there guest than the surroundings. It is in a good loction and as we travel to portsmouth often and will be moving down to the area shortly felt it was a missed oppertunately, as we would not recommend this hotel to our friend or family."     Hotel was clean and tidy and well decorated

    Hotel lacked atmosphere, hostee was unfriendly, host tried his best but had no confidence, Room was cold as no heating and noisy due to a chiller cabinet being next door,which was turn off at our request on the second night.

    "unfortunately, due to so many bad bits we will not be staying at that particular hotel again! It would have been good to have some decent information about Portsmouth, there was nothing about the ships, or the Spinaker, lots about surrounding areas but not Portsmouth, it was the Historic Docklands that we had come to visit, and also we had no idea what a fantastic shopping outlet there was, we came across it by accident. We will most definitly come back to Portsmouth." (107629108)

    We parked our car opposite hotel in car park, went in to register, bought a £6 token for two nights parking on the road, took case upstairs,went back to car..and had £50 parking ticket on windscreen, (we were told b Manager, that we would have to pay, but he did not stress the urgency of paying for parking in the car park.)..we then drove round and round trying to find parking space on road to no avail, and ended up paying for 48 hours parking in car park opposite hotel. We asked for £6 back. We found the four poster bedroom cold, not only because we had to keep coats on when we went in room for a while as the radiators were turned off, my husband turned it on,but there was no ambience it could have done with pictures on the wall, and another chair in the corner, not a pot of artificial flowers. The television was not working when we got there, it was fixed later that night. When the loo was flushed the hot water sometimes stopped working in tap so we were unable to wash our hands!! The shower power died back. There is a gap around the down pipe of the loo going downstairs, presumably near kitchen, and we could hear the conversations going on downstairs, so presumed equally they could hear the noises from above! A bit disconcerting to say the least! To cap it all, my husband went down to breakfast before me on Sunday, and found the restaurant locked (8.50 am) and the chef banging to be let in, outside the backdoor, my husband let him in! we found out later that another couple had come down at 8.30 am also to find restaurant locked and went back to their room! When we finally sat down at our table, the cereal was laid out, but I had to go the bar to ask for bowls! Then we had to ask for glasses for the orange juice!

    Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was lovely and the owners were really nice and welcoming, good location to the city.

    My room was right by the kitchen vents.

    A little treasure! An excellent boutique style hotel and bar. Room was very well fitted and decorated, bathroom was spacious and spotless. Very friendly helpful staff. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Portsmouth is not an easy place to park!

    Excellent facilities and price following a comprehensive redevelopment of this hotel.

    Slow food service especially at breakfast. Luckily we we not trying to catch a train! However the food is freshly prepared - no food services suppliers here - and well priced.

    Excellent food and service in Bar.Furnished clean and modern. Rooms clean and well appointed.

    Bathroom cupboard size but functional. No hot water. Shaving light and hairdrier worked at night but not in the morning! Only one lad serving everything at breakfast. Lots of bulbs out, not been replaced. Two big TV's in Bar. Car parking
