    Good value for money. We spent £99 on a 2 bedroom suite. This was basically a 2 bedroom appartment (two twin rooms), a bathroom, a living area and a kitchen. It was basic, but for the price we weren't expecting anything else. The place was clean and tidy, the beds comfortable and the kitchen adequate. The location of the place is excellent, bring just a stone's throw from Prince's Street, and the town centre. We were able to walk pretty much everywhere, and the area immediately around the hotel has some great shops, bars and restaurants.

    I think the lady on reception was having an off day. She was a little dazed, and didn't really get what was going on. We asked for directions and were told to take a bus and it was 15 mins away. When we hailed a taxi outside we were told it was a 2 min walk away. As I said, it was very basic, and could have done with just a couple more little touches, eg. a picture on the wall, a move away from the white paint that every surface is painted in, etc.

    "We (four adults) booked two suite studio for two nights. When we arrived, we were told no such room is available and we were put to two double rooms for the first night. The second night is even worse, we were squeezed into four horrible hostel like single rooms, sharing a single bathroom!!! And we were charged for the suite studio price for the two nights!!     The rooms, though large and high-ceilinged, were lacking in any decorations, a bit spartan looking. The sofa bed which my 14 year old son slept on, was extremely uncomfortable. Also, very noisy pub at street level, just below my room. Scaffolding obscured any light, builders started work (noisily) at around 7.30 am. No hairdryers in rooms, I had to go and buy one from Boots.

    Basic price for Edinburgh in the festival. Staff had a nice attitude.

    Hard to find - not called Shandwick Hotel and Suites - called Shandwick Apartments. Two flights of stairs to get to reception were tough with cases. Breakfast didn't start until 8.30 am.

    accueil sympathique. Les suites pour 3 personnes sont très spacieuses.

    Aucune personne ne parle le Français. Pas de table et chaise dans la cuisine, dommage.

    Noisy Banging doors. Shower unit not adequate the whole thing kept on falling to pieces, and no regulation as regards water temperature. Adjacent night club very noisy with loud music and air vents going all the time.

    great location, friendly and helpful staff, great value for money

    scaffolding infront of windowns due to building work though this wasn't the hotel's fault and is possibly the reason we got such a great deal money wise!

    The hotel is in a good location close to both the city centre and the rugby ground and is within walking distance of the station. We were allocated a one bedroom apartment which to be honest had enough space to accommodate a much larger family. The rooms were clean and tidy if a little sparse on furniture (they had obviously recently been refurbished) and the kitchen and bathroom were both well eqquiped

    The rooms were too cold during the night. There were heaters in every room but they were never on and could not be controlled from the room. Only a very light quilt on the bed and no extra blankets. Dining area too small to accommodate all gusets for breakfast. After waiting for 3o mins each day for a table we walked to the nearby Wetherspoons and had a full English for £5

    The service at Breakfast from the New Zealand lady was excellent, she was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the shower was excellent. Even let us leave our bags there for the day after we had checked out.

    The doors in the room would not stay open which was very annoying. There was no warning of all the work that was being done to the hotel prior to our stay. Twice we went to reception to ask for assistance and the desk was unattended.

    "As I have said, the homeless hostel I worked in, had better facilities and to be charged £70.00 for the room and an okay breakfast was a disgrace." (107605661)

    The receptionist who showed me in was polite and very helpful. This was the only time I saw a member of staff, until the next morning at breakfast time, and then it was only to ask me what I would like for breakfast. There was no one on reception to hand my key in to, nor did anyone inform me as to where I should put it. I left it in the room, as I thought that was the best place to leave it.

    The room was not very clean, there were splashes on the wall, the skirting boards were dirty. The bedside lamp was broken, there was no mirror in the room. The general decor was not good, I only had one quite flat pillow. Room doors were banging for most of the night. I have to say that in my work I worked in a homeless hostel which was better equipped that the room I stayed in. The toilets and shower rooms were reasonable, but the toilet paper was not of a good quality and there were no hand drying facilites in the toilets.
