    good location, breakfast seemed fine

    no mirror in bathroom, no soap cobwebs on view, no real check in an assistant who had just got out of the shower assisted!

    Very clean and the staff were very attentive.

    Everything looks dated, really in need of a "facelift". I wasn't happy that i had to pay full for the room even though i was on my own. I paid £ 60 more than my colleagues even though one of them had a twin room they were still given it at a single rate.

    Good size room. Good bed and bedding. Breakfast good.

    TV did not work. Cold water tap on basin did not work.

    overall friendly staff, very helpful and the service was great for breakfast, and should of taken advantage of the new Bulgarian buffet they was an evening offer, looked nice. Great location and easy to find

    Door locks :) room was a bit tricky to get into, but a bit of persistance and you're in

    Good point was breakfast and the service thereat.

    Room was cramped. Booking in was a shambles. No one was around to show me the room and also the telphone did not work to contact reception. Shower had no pressure and was difficult to adjust for temperature.

    The hotel was situated in a nice surrounding not at all far from down town facilities like shops, restaurants, pubs etc. Harrogate is a very lovely and beautiful city with all its flowers at buildings and in parks.

    A pity that the shower room/toilet did not have a basin in it. The cold water of the basin was out of order. The bathroom could have been a little larger. It would have been nice also to have a detachable shower handle. There was also bad water pressure.

    "This B&B is shockingly poor value for money given the £170 charged for four people staying in two shabby rooms (one of which had no cold water) and a poor quality breakfast served by disinterested staff. I would not recommend this to my enemies and will certailny not book through activehotels again. The marketing of this B&B is a work of fiction. " (107307437)

    I booked two rooms - one costing £95 and one costing £75 for myself and friends; for this price I expected at least 3* quality as marketed on the website. The £75 room had no cold water. Both rooms were shabby and the furniture looked as though it had come from a house clearance. The service was poor. On arrival we had to wait in the lobby whilst the landlady came from another address. Breakfast consisted of cold bullet like poached eggs and was served half heartedly by a waitress who was clearly embarassed by the poor quality of the whole place. On departure, I was told i couldn't have a receipt as the card terminal was not yet on line.

    good Breakfast, fast service, polite staff, clarified doubts

    The TV did have only 1 channel coming up, I tried for few minutes, got fed up and involved in my work, didnot ask the staff for this. The shower has fixed point, it would be useful, if it had flexible handle

    "I am unlikely to use this hotel again and I was disappointing by the review on the website as it didn't really give a true reflection of the accommodation on offer. However it as cheap so overall I think it was adequate." (107906270)

    Breakfast was good as were the staff serving. Close distance to conference centre

    Room was very small and couldn't physically sit on the toilet as it was stuck in a small cubby hole - and I'm not the tallest or largest of guests! Shower was awful as it was just a drip, although the stream did improve if you knelt down in a praying position, a great image of the shower I'm sure. When I arrived it took ages for someone to come as they seemed to have been at another hotel and there seemed to be a huge argument going on in the downstairs flat which seemed to be lived in by a family of asylum seekers. There is also limited parking on site and none on the road.

    Hotel reservation was changed by telephone one day prior to arrival (offered as a free upgrade but to a cheaper B&B??). However, after I checked the prices, a refund was offered. Bedroom was very small, and bathroom walls were mouldy with pealing wallpaper. Breakfast staff failed to bring pot of tea on one of the mornings.

    Unfortunately the boiler had broken down so I had no hot water or radiators other than an electric radiator . However, it had not been repaired the following day so they found us alternative accommodation in a higher-rated B&B for which The Gables paid a taxi to transfer and the difference in cost, without being prompted. Full marks.

    Lack of heating / hot water on arrival - see above. Looked as if bedroom door knob had been replaced, lots of filler very visible. Storage furniture looked good but several drawers were rather wonky when actually used.

    staff were quite polite

    not a lot of english speaking staff, requested twin room got a double bed??? dirty and very shabby. no hairdryer even i did request one and the tv did not work very old and needs throwing in the skip.

    Staff were friendly, breakfast was very nice

    We stayed 2 nights, when we returned to our room on the second night our room had been left open after it was cleaned. The cleaner had thrown out my dental retainer - had to dig in the bin for it the next morning to get it back. Asked for discount based on this, but was refused

    CHEAP

    Car park too small. General dilapidation. TV did not work properly. Staff had poor command of English. Level of cleanliness was low.
