    Handy situation for visiting places of interest

    No hotel chef so it was a 'do it yourself' breakfast in room. Heating not working. Bedside light broken.

    the room could have been a lot cleaner did not look as though it had been cleaned for a long time. the kettle was not safe in the room, staff could have been a lot more friendly, if I had read previous reviews before I booked this hotel I would not have booked it and will not recommend it to anyone else or stay there again. this is the 2nd active hotels I have stayed in and they both rate the same so it looks like they are the lowest of accomodation even the travellodge accomodation is better value for money and cleanliness etc susan of boston

    "The room was large and the furniture was of good quality but the wardrobe had not been checked as there was clothing already hanging in it The roller blind that should have been at the window was laying on the floor and had been for some time as the the decorative metal squares which should have been on it were in a draw.The tea and coffee we just laid on top of a mantle piece and not on a tray. The whole place had a feel of not being cleaned properly." (107574393)

    Very friendly reception and staff were generally friendly and helpful.

    A little more care could have been taken with the cleaning. The cups in the room had not been washed from the previous occupants and the outside of the shower unit needed a scrub; however, in general it was acceptable.

    "Not a bad hotel would stay again,it is a bit basic but value for money,just a lack of information on where and when Breakfast was etc,staff just gave you a key to the room and that was it" (107855694)

    Nice hotel,good location,good breakfast,large rooms.

    Rooms are a bit basic but of a good size,some of the staff are a bit un friendly and a genral lack of information and the bar down stairs is very loud but you could not hear it in the rooms.

Would recommend to others, and if playing at Kettering next year, will definitely return to the Red Lion, but would probably need an evening meal and options in Rothwell are limited unless you like Indian/Chinese takeaways and are able to take them to your room. This is the first place I have felt I would want to go back to indicidentally. " (107560708)

    Clean, light and well kept single room. Not ensuite, but I liked the idea of a dedicated bathroom for each room. Would have liked an evening meal but Saturday is the one evening they don't do it! Although I understand I could have pre-booked one possibly. Would recommend to others as easy to find and get to. Included breakfast was enormous and I couldn't finish it!

    Bar was fairly noisy and disco type music could have been intrusive if I hadn't had the TV on. But so tired it didn't matter too much. Disappointed no radio facility on TV - but again not too much of a problem.

    "Good value for money but information from staff on arival was slighty vauge. In all my stay was pleasant. It would have been good to have more options for breakfast instead of just a fry up. The food portions where very large but of a good standard. " (107878865)

    Breakfast included in price but they were not able to provide it as no cook available, but took money off.
