    "Dirty hotel & Bedrooms --- Contracters painting had been smoking in coridiors... Bed was discusting - matress very (very) old... Filthy headboards, bedroom carpets stained & bedroom seating filthy and very old - All wanted burning !! We changed room not much better..!!!!" (108179097)

    Breakfast was the only good point....... I felt sorry for the staff - who tried to help..

    This hotel should totally close down untill the refurbishment is fully finished.. Shower needs to be scrapped.. I HAVE PHOTOS TO PROVE ALL THIS...

    "The hotel is old and is what some may call worn in areas but I think this is part of it's charm.It was in a good position and easy to find. Staff were helpful and friendly. There is no lift but no long flights of stairs either so not really a problem if your reasonably fit!" (108291253)

    The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good position and our particular room had a lovely view over the river. Apart from the night when the was a band appearing at the hotel,which we were told of in advance by the staff, the hotel and the surrounding area was quiet at night. The food was good, both breakfast and bar meals with good menu choices. Good parking facilities.

    The room was a little dark but that was because of the small window. The age of the hotel would be the reason for this and is, I suppose, part of its charm. There was only one thin pillow on each bed with no spares, had to ask for extra but recieved them immediately. Have to say, the temperature of the water was extremely hot!

    Great location, good breakfast, easy parking, friendly atmosphere. Quiet at night, despite music etc. in bar. No revving of engines etc.

    Room small but adequate. Replacement of tissues/toilet roll in bathroom haphazard but other cleaning, towel replacement fine. Something of a climb/walk to reach room (no lift and rambling building). Only two sockets to deal with TV, light, kettle, phone charger, laptop etc.

    the size of room was good-furniture good,reception staff was excellent

    hole in sheet on bed,toilet seat broken,door not locking easily,kept awake until 4.30 am by noisy guests

    Bed was comfortable

    TV reception terrible and available channels did not reflect what the TV display said was available. General decor was a bit tired. Breakfast was a bizarre experience - when paying £100 for two nights (as a single traveller) I expected to at least have my own pot of tea and some toast made for me, not have to pour tea a cup at a time from a horribly weak pot of tea sat on a hotplate and cook my own toast. Also, I expected to be able to get a meal at the bar after 8pm - virtually all pubs serve food till 9pm, let alone the 24-hour room service available in the vast majority of hotels.

    Pleasant and helpful staff. Nice dining room for breakfast. Good sized carpark to leave on hand.

    Dirty headboards - most impractical to have material on the headboards. Rotten windows that will not open The hot water takes ages to reach the taps. A pity there is no lounge bar, we do not have a weekend break to sit with either noisy teenagers or squabbling toddlers.

    View from our window, facing the river. Parking. Breakfast.

    The room was not as clean as we expected Poor sound isolation from the pub inside the hotel. Be sure to avoid first floor rooms! inexpert Staff and not very kind The hotel has seen better times, everything is old and used.

    Good parking, friendly and helpful staff.

    Weather damage evident to the outer walls and ceilings. Poor shower and dated fittings.

    Good English breakfast good waiting staff.

    7.30 pm no one on reception, I had to go and sort staff from the bar. No welcome given. Although food was still available we were not told this, so we went out to dine instead of enjoying a meal in the hotel.

    Website for booking easy to follow, Reception area pleasant. Staff helpful and friendly.Dining room very good.

    We were taken aback from the Bridge Street approach. The Hotel looked tatty. Some areas of the inside of the Hotel were shabby (e.g.stair carpet)

    Our room was good and beds comfortable.

    Breakfast on first day (self service) was not good. Dried up black pudding sitting on a hotplate, congealed beans and fried eggs likewise. Staff in dining room not very interested. Obtaining food in the evening was a struggle as there was one person serving bar,taking food orders and waitressing. Food took half an hour to arrive and when it did was pretty poor. Breakfast second day was better as food was cooked to order so at least the eggs were runny, but no real alternatives available and lacking in quality.
