"First impressions of the Hotel where good with a good reception and impressive bar/lounge area and competent staff. Restaurant areas where spacious though sparsely decorated. Car parking was well to the rear of the premises within an apartment block owned by this Hotel. The vehicle was not felt to be in a secure area overnight. Room standards we felt where poor, with decoration needed and a good cleaning. Facilities where very basic in the room and milk had not been restocked. We have found much higher standards of Hotel within the price range in many various other counties throughout Ireland" (97856154)
The overall first impression and standard of the room was poor and on exiting the shower area into the bedroom got a piece of glass in my foot, which was embedded into the carpet. It looked like the room carpet had not been vacuumed following previous vacation. Tea, coffee and sugar where available for use although there was no milk left to make beverages. The wardrobe area had no door over it and the single bed in the room was badly damaged and considered unsafe by ourselves. Food in the widely acclaimed restaurant was adequate, although vegetables had to be asked for. Breakfast was excellent and probably the highlight of the stay.

"Overall the hotel met our basic needs, however, there is a sterile atmosphere in the hotel, in the main, due to the lack of character of the staff. Apart from the main reception staff who were cheerful and welcoming, the staff show little enjoyment in their job, little willingness to be helpfull and general courteousness and politeness is a bit stale." The rooms were spacious and well facilitated.
The standard of cleanliness in the rooms was poor. No drawers for clothes.

"We stayed in 7 hotels over 7 days in Ireland, and this was by far the most disappointing stay. One would think in the off season a hotel would be eager to have guests stay, and that they would have time to ensure their guests enjoyed their stay. Many other hotels charged much less, and but offered better facilites and better service. At least the Travelodge is unashamedly functional rather than fancy, and has a rate to reflect this. Not only would I not return to this hotel, I would strongly recommend other travellers against it. It might have been ok for half the price..." (107142320)
There weren't really any good points. The hotel could have been quite nice, at least cosy if a little bit of effort was put in. I guess there were no rats or cockroaches... that I saw anyway.
Hotel was advertised as having free parking. This was not the case. Upon arrival, we were told that our rental car had to be left on the street, and 50c would be needed for the meter in the morning. 50c isn't much at all - advertising a commodity or service that is not available is just plain dishonest. The least the hotel could offer was to pay the 50c?! Parking is a specific attribute I check out, when booking the hotel, and would probably have chosen a different hotel if I had known this was the case. The rest of the hotel is just plain shabby. The phone in our room didn't work, which meant that we missed dinner with our group, as they presumed we had gone out (on their end the phone rang and rang, but at our end - nothing). There are no toiletries in the bathrooms - just a cheap looking handwash. There was a weird backdraft in the bathroom, so the shower curtain attacked you while you showered. The window curtains were hanging half off the rail. There was no computer available for guests - something all the other hotels managed to provide - and a really convenient facility for travellers. And in the morning, there was no such thing as a vegetarian breakfast - so we were given a sloppy plate of beans with a rubbery egg.
