    "OK - very nice building with plenty of character." (108477497)

    Guest in next room decided to play her guitar at 5.30am. We had a funeral to attend and hadn't slept well... was the final straw. We advised the hotel receptionist when I checked out!

    "Perfect location, perfect look as you arrive, a perfect hotel for the HOTEL INSPECTOR ! Although staff was more than helpful with room change and a bit of an earlier check in, it does not cover for the state of the rooms, the lack of furniture and the bad state of corridors and some other rooms. SO MUCH POTENTIAL but not used as it should at all. Shame." (108449607)

    The place looks amazing, the garden and views are stunning and very peaceful. The communal rooms and lecture rooms, bar, lounge are just beautiful. Also, considering the change of room required, the staff was helpful and the cleaning lady got an other room sorted very promptly.

    The rooms are all very badly furnished, only the bed seems recent, no wardrobe but just a hook behind the door. The first room we were given had just been repainted, it smelled of paint and there was no way we could spend the night, although we fought to open the window ( and managed it, 2 of us). We were moved to a bigger room and had a look at all of them on the way. Apart from the bathroom that was clean, the floors and corridors were not very neat. The room had a double bed one side to the wall, one bedside table and a very old looking dresser with TV on top (no remote). The floor in the breakfast room was dirty. Our room was above the entrance and the bang of the door was very loud when people were entering, exiting the building, from early morning.

    Felt very basic room with old portable TV running of an internal arial took me back to the nineties

    THE BIN WASNT BEEN EMPTIED IN THE BATHROOM FROM THE PREVIOUS PERSON STAYED BEFORE ME , NO FACIAL TISSUES IN THE BATHROOM IT WAS ONLY THE EMPTY BOX

    Superb setting in a peaceful location overlooking golf course. Excellent breakfast served by a very friendly waitress.

    double room small with bed located up against a wall. One bath and one hand towel only for two persons.

    Looks impressive and lovely location. Clean bedding and towels. Free WiFi and excellent breakfast. Staff very friendly and well presented.

    Basic tired decor. Old 14" TV with set top aerial!!! just basic channels and no night time facilities. No phone signal (Orange)

    Very friendly and willing to assist staff. The atmosphere of the hotel was one of peace and tranquility - an absolute delight.

    Could do with a fan in the rooms during hot days/nights. Allow adults guest to decide for themselves how far they are able to open the windows and not have them nailed so you can open them only an inch - particularly frustrating on the hot days/nights we've been experiencing.

    Due to not being advised of meal times on check-in, and also the fact that the information had been ommitted from the folder in our room, we didn't go down for breakfast until 9.00 am, only to be told that they finished serving at 9.00 am. However, the kitchen staff were very good, and accepted there'd been a lack of information, and made us breakfast. The waitress was very pleasant and friendly.

    Lack of information on arrival, and also in the room. In my view the shower was dangerous; it wouldn't sit on the overhead rest, and didn't mix with the cold water properly, so without warning there were blasts of extremely hot water, which could lead to someone being scalded. I reported this on checking out, but feel I ought to write to the Manager. Also, a wall light above the bed had been removed, and the hole covered with black tape. Again, I felt this ought to have been repaired before the room was used.

    Room was reasonably clean

    When i arrived at the hotel it was difficult to see where the reception was as it was just a table in a hallway! The room was nothing like the inetrnet photos showed - alot smaller & extremely hot as no air-conditioning. All the staff and guests stood outside the main front door smoking. This was directly below my window so had all the smoke coming into my room. As i'd been working and travelling all day, i wanted an evening meal. When i asked reception where to go for dinner, I was told that 'the chef will only do bar-food if he feels like it! At the moment he's not here so if he returns he may cook something' He did return so luckily I could eat, however, all he did was a microwave Lasagne!! I wasn't even offered a drink!

    Helpful friendly staff. Period building, fantastic location. Modern bathrooms.

    The nature of the principle business of the Hotel appears to be accomodation and breakfast only unless a conference or special celebration is there I presume, knowledge of this in advance would be helpful. Bar was not open, no opportunity to book meals or teas in the main facilities or snacks/ vending facilities.

    Impressive grounds and building. Excellent breakfast and nice staff.

    Bed and pillows were uncomfortable. One of the windows did not open and the other failed to stay open easily. Would stay again if the beds and pillows were better.

    Kind stuff. Great garden.

    Breakfast was same everyday. Room service was poor. There was no daily cleaning. Room needs re-decoration. Heating starts after 21:00. If you don't have a car, don't stay this hotel, hotel's garden is too big to walk. From hotel door to garden door was 0.6 mile.

    "This hotel could, with a few improvements such as good (working) radio and TV reception in the bedrooms, an easy chair in the bedrooms and a general tidy up, a wonderful place to stay. It's location is lovely." (107624513)

    The setting is quite beautiful. Extremely quiet and relaxing. Bed was comfortable, bathroom facilities fine. The staff were friendly - when you could find one. I've rated the overall experience as 'good' as the hotel delivered a quiet space at the end of a very busy day.

    The hotel is not very well signposted and is at the end of a one mile drive which, being unlit, makes locating the building after dark a little challenging.It appears to have very few staff - thus it was a little irksome having to wait for service in the bar. The staff, however, were friendly and polite.
