    "We had a very pleasant overnight stay. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating with an excellent personal touch to the service. The suite of rooms was spacious, clean and very comfortable. We will definitely stay there again." (107503587)

    "A lovely end to our holiday before heading back home on the ferry. Comfortable with a good continental breakfast in the morning." (107525630)

    Lovely decor with original features. Family room well presented with more than enough space for 4 of us. Warm friendly welcome and during stay. Chldren welcomed and lovely personal touch for the children at breakfast time. Close to ferry port as desired.

    Some noise could be heard from the road but this did not spoil our stay.

    "Was hard to find on street parking during daytime but by evening , plenty of spaces, Friendly family and nice decor , with warm comfortable beds, but room seemed cold early morning when we awoke. Our toilet didnt flush , and by the time we found this out, everyone else had gone to bed, so we had to wait till the morning Couldnt seem to keep the internet connection going." (107392868)

    Very friendly staff, provided great advice about where to eat and go in the evening. The hotel was very conviniently situated and is a real gem of a building. Exquisite late Renaissance interior, very romantic. Nice simple fresh breakfast. Relaxed, warm and a beautiful environment which is a welcome alternative to the often plain surrounds of Calais.

    We were very happy with the level of service we resieved in our overnight stay. the staff member was very helpful in directions into the town and were the best places to eat were.

    accueil charmant, chambre sympathique, literie de qualité, petit déjeuner impeccable. Un petit plus, la possibilité de "chiner" sur place et d'emporter des objets intéressants à des prix compétitifs.

    Pas de points négatifs, si ce n'est le manque de boissons fraiches en chambre...Un détail au vu du positif du séjour

    "This hotel didn't really have any bed points and in future when I'm in calais I shall stay here. I have stayed in many hotels/b&B over the years and this really is very good indeed. We received a friendly and helpful reception. I had an excellent nights sleep and a good brekfast in very charming surroundings" (107986991)

    Incredibly helpful Staff. Charming old building. Excellent bathroom. Excellent mattress,even in very expensive hotels they use cheap continous sprung matresses, and nice quality bed-line with duvets as opposed to a tightly stretched thin little blanket. Coffee machine in the room. Brekfast was very nice, pastries , bread, yougurt and cereal and freshly squeezed orange juice, which impressed me as I've stayed in very expensive 5* hotels that can't be bothered to do this. I personally would have liked to also have ham/cheese or the option of an egg and toast.

    "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return again. Madame & Monsieur were friendly and helpful, booking us into an excellent resturant that is an easy walk from the property. " (107955012)

    The rooms are individual and very well presented. Madame and Monsieur were very friendly and helpful.

    The only slight problem was that the jacuzzi was not working in the Kenya room as a previous visitor had taken the remote. However this was not a major problem.

    Staff very welcoming.Impressive building. Good position for central Calais. Parking outside.

    No television. Could not get the hi-tech shower to work. Lack of soundproofing could have been a nightmare with a noisy family. Sound carries from the front door up the staircase to bedrooms in early morning.

    Excellent continental breakfast that included cerals and yoghurts. Beautiful towels. Every room themed and decorated. Attentive service by Ms Bisschop with excellent recommendations for dinner and a map to hand. Very convenient location with plenty of street parking outside and nearby.

    Difference in rate between what is posted on Active Hotels website and rate shown in room.

    "Could not have been better. We didn't want to travel Dover - Calais as Dover is so far from where we live, but the overnight stay in Calais made the whole exercise worthwhile even financially! Added to the P&O ferry the cost of the hotel was still cheaper than an overnight ferry from Portsmouth and we were able to start driving at the crack of dawn next day." (107866898)

    Small. Family run. Charming traditional building, beautifully renovated preserved the old features. In the old town of Calais. Within walking distance of the main shopping street and a number of excellent restuarants which the hotel recommended to us. We had a wonderful stay in the smallest and cheapest room - which never the less had immaculate freshly laundered white bed linen. Every detail was quite perfect. We will certainly return and recommend the hotel to all our friends.

    What a wonderful house, we loved the whole feeling of the place, all the lovely furniture, our bedroom was so tastefully done, and a great bathroom. The breakfast was really nice, did not eat until the evening as we were so full.

    Lovely friendly warm and welcoming. Breakfast was satisfying and delightful with the little pots of home made jams and lovely breads. Hosts were very informative about Calias and made us feel really welcome

    No TV in room. The towels were not changed for the second night. Our towels were still damp from the morning use.

    "An amazing privately run house, with fantastic decor. Guests should be aware that this is a B&B rather than a hotel, but offers much more than your average B&B. The house has been lovingly restored and decorated by the owner who is very welcomeing and friendly. She provided detailed information about the area and places worth visiting and made an excellent recommendation for dinner in a local restaurant." (97157210)

    No drink facilities in our room, however we learnt that the previous guests had in fact stolen the coffee maker!

    "This is a modest b and b. It is not a hotel. The four star rating given on some booking sites is misleading. " (107375337)

    This is a bed and breakfast; it is not a hotel. The owners are polite and friendly.

    The rooms are large - but lack any soundproofing, so you can hear other guests (I was unlucky: the man in the room below me snored loudly.) There are no phones or televisions in rooms. There is no bar, room service, reception desk or any of the facilities standard in the simplest hotels. It is hard to find and check in is at 5 pm, because the owners of the establishment need their free time. The wireless hi fi is erratic.
