  All excellent. Friendly and efficient, clean and convenient for exploring Venice. Very affordable with excellent value. We were so pleased and would recommend this to anyone.

  "We very much enjoyed our 3 nights stay in October at Locanda San Marcuola. The hotel was in a perfect spot for arriving by No 1 or 82 vaporetto. If you'd arrived by foot it would have been harder to find. No need to lug suitcases over the many bridges of Venice either, by this method! Hotel is small, pleasantly decorated and generally peaceful. We had requested a room with canal view when submitting our booking, but only had a glimpse of the Grand Canal if we craned out of the window. However this wasn't important as were out exploring the city all day and didn't spend much time in our room at all. Our only real gripe was that the San Marcuola church was being renovated within feet of our bedroom window and the workmen woke us up each morning when they started work, calling to each other, but hopefully that won't last for long. The church bells also ring at 8.45am each morning for a few minutes but it's not unpleasant - just means you don't get to make the most of the lazy lie-ins allowed by breakfast being served until 10am. The nice continental style breakfast consists of a rolls and croissants, yoghurt, fruit and a plate of cheese, ham and salami, with a selection of jams and spreads plus juice, tea, coffee or chocolate. The bathroom is modern with a good hot shower. Room could have done with drawers for clothes, rather than just a wardrobe with a high top shelf which already had a spare blanket on, and 2 small bedside cabinets, but no big problem for us. There was a useful safe in the wardrobe which was free to use." (99490374)

  Hotel's very close (20 metres) proximity to the San Marcuola vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal, yet quiet location away from the hordes of tourists around San Marco and Rialto.

  The noisy builders currently renovating the San Marcuola church outside our window who woke us up each morning, shouting to each other and clanging the scaffolding!
