  "Lake Orta is a quiet lake and because the hotel stands separate from its neighbours (which is a bonus is some respects) there was nowhere to 'promenade' of an evening without driving somewhere. For those not eating in the restaurant each evening, this could be somewhat restrictive. We found 'Dolphin's Bar' a relatively short walk away that did nice panninis to supplement the meal we would have at lunchtime." (107594779)

  The superior lakeside room was exactly that; spacious, comfortable and with superb views over the lake from the balcony and through the generous patio doors in our room. We made use of the hotel's access to the lake for swimming, and to sun bath on the terrace; we also used the swimming pool which was lovely on sunny days. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and there was plenty of choice for breakfast for all nationalities. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had the 'taster menu' meal on our last evening, and whilst it was expensive; it was a great final treat. The quality of the food and wine was brilliant.

  One of the basins in the bathroom, although ultra modern, didn't hold water as the integral plug arrangement seemed not to be functioning. There was often a queue for the tea/coffee machine in the morning but the hotel tried to ease the pressure by introducing additional coffee machines when it was busy. Neither of these criticisms affected the quality of our holiday at all and were relatively minor issues. However, we did feel the prices in the restaurant were a expensive unless you stayed on a half board basis.

  "This is a very well run hotel, where nothing is to much trouble. It is family run, and the whole staff act as one family. We shall return to the Giardinetto. Stay at this hotel, you will not be disappointed!!" (107905929)

  The hotel location, the staff and food were superb. Also a wonderful array of local wines were available. The views from the lake side bedroom were stunning

  There were no bad points, except a hard mattress and pillows. When we mentioned this to the hotel, they could not obviously change the bed, but they found alternative pillows. Very good.

  L'hôtel est idéalement situé au bord du larc d'Orta, avec piscine et petite plage. Très agréable. Beaucoup de chambres donnent sur le lac et sont très tranquilles.

  "Ich wusste nicht, dass es einen Swimming-Pool hatte. Sonst war alles gut, die Lage super, direkt am Ortasee! der Balkon ist wiklich " (97516390)

  "Unfortunately, our air conditioning failed on the final night and the room was very hot. eventually we reverted to just opening the windows, but the previous night we (and many other guests) had been attacked by insects when in the gazebo restaurant and we suffered a large number of bites so there was a reluctance to do this. On a previous visit to the hotel we eat in the excellent indoor restaurant, some indication that there was a problem that night with insects would have been useful. The room got up to 31 degrees in the afternoon and early evening before we retired. The staff tried hard but there was a lack of experience in understanding the ac system. The reception staff and waiters were young and very helpful. More senior bar staff were less attentive. The hotel would do well to make its guests more aware of its excellent car park across the road as many guest mistakenly thought (at first) that their adjacent car park, which is very small was the only one available and there was some chaos in parking."   "The hotel is in an excellant peaceful location right on the lakeside. The superior room was clean, spacious and well equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel well run. The restuarant served very good if perhaps a little fancy food. The wine was expensive - no cheap plonk!." (99832037)

  Well run hotel in an excellant location.

  Would have liked to be able to get a simpler meal some evenings The shower was built on a platform and quite difficult to get in and out of.

  "Overall I was very happy with the hoteland I would stay there again if in the area." (99347656)

  The room was clean and adequately furnished. Breakfast was excellent and the dining room had a beautiful view over Lake Orta. Staff very friendly and helpful especially when I did not arrive until after midnight. The outdoor pool was excellent and very clean.

  My only complaint was the ridiculously tiny shower in my bathroom. It was impossible to take a shower without spraying the whole bathroom with water.

  "We loved our stay. Our host, Katerina was charming & extremely helpful. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to those who want 'time out' from work, being a tourist & the challenges of life. The staff were extremely efficient & helpful. The food is good & fairly priced. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the most beautiful lake is sheer heaven. I originally wanted to stay in Orta /S. Guiliano but am very glad now that we stayed where we did, it is only minutes away anyway." (99432605)

  it is a beautifully situated hotel with friendly, obliging staff, only too happy to help even though it was at the absolute end of the season.

  There really wasn't anything I didn't like but it was hard to walk places, a busy road with no footpaths. Not a fault of the hotel but it would be great to be able to lobby the local authorities to remedy the situation. When people rush around in cars all year they like to walk when they have the time, i.e. during holidays. The hotel was, of course, more than happy to ferry you around. I personally do not like the cluttered decor but some people love it, it is just a matter of differences in taste & certainly wouldn't stop me from returning.
