The role of the Consumer team is to understand consumers' needs and preferences so that we can test new ideas, and provide them with unbeatable hotel reservation products. We are a young and dynamic team with a rapidly expanding role, and we need someone to support us across a number of areas as we grow.

The principal tasks involved in this role include:

Compiling information from different sources for our daily and weekly reporting
Searching for data on the internet as we expand in to new countries
Contacting other companies to build relationships with potential partners
Researching the online travel market to identify new products and trends

Requirements

We are looking for someone that:

Is enthusiastic, proactive and enjoys using their initiative
Enjoys working in small teams
Is proficient in using Microsoft Excel
Has some experience of researching on the internet
Has good written communication skills, especially e-mail

If you are a native German or Italian speaker it would be an advantage, as we have websites in five languages.

Please note that coaching will be provided on an ongoing basis.

Production Team Assistant

Background
The AH Production Team is responsible for installation, operation and maintenance of all the networks and systems used by the company. These include the main servers which provide the booking platform, multiple backup systems, as well as development systems and internal office networks. Owing to the rapid growth of the company, the team requires new members in the Cambridge Office.

Job Description
The principal tasks involved in the role include:

Day to day office computer and telecomms network support
Office logistics support
Liaising with Service Providers and Technical Partners
Support for production systems installation, monitoring and maintenance
User PC support
Linux™ Administration
Microsoft® Windows® Administration
MySQL™ Database Administration
24-hour on-call support on a rota (additional remuneration package)

Training can be provided as necessary.

Requirements

Enthusiastic, able to work with and contribute to a small team
Have a positive and friendly attitude towards all levels of users, both internal and external
Some form of technical qualifications which demonstrate complex problem solving capabilities
Some experience of system/network/database administration is necessary

Internet Application Engineer (Java)

We are hiring world-class Java software engineers to write server-side code for customer-facing website applications. The role reports to the Business Development Director, and will involve significant exposure to the company's business managers and Directors.

We are looking for well-rounded developers who know how to create robust production applications, and can also develop prototypes quickly. A passion for driving and building new technologies is a must - as is the ability to work in a small commercially-driven, agile team. Some HTML design experience would be extremely beneficial.

You should have a good understanding of, and practical experience with, Java web application development; experience of J2EE technology would be an advantage.

Responsibilities:

Delivery of new projects from requirements capture through to test.
Provision of technical assistance and consulting services to organisation.
Mentoring of junior software engineers.
Analysis and reporting of key website metrics.

Requirements:

Enthusiasm for problem solving and the ability to work independently and rapidly.
Strong Java skills and experience.
Good HTML knowledge.
Excellent communication skills.

Sales/Account Executives

Active Hotels requires fluent German, Italian and Spanish speaking sales executives in order to execute our ambitious rollout plans into the European hotel industry.

You will report to the Director of Sales. Dealing with major hotel accounts you will be a highly experienced and capable Sales Executive, used to working on your own initiative, and with the ability to influence decision makers at all levels. Active Hotels product is highly topical and you will use your undoubted knowledge of the hotel industry, and boundless energy to establish Active Hotels product as a key element to the hotels on-line marketing and reservation strategy. Whilst the success of this role will ultimately be measured by the volume of new properties signed up, the successful candidate will also manage existing relationships, introducing new initiatives, products and services.

Key Duties:

New Sales
- Produce proposals and set appointments for large Independents and Groups.
- Respond to sales leads by telephone and face-to-face.
- Produce weekly and monthly reports on sales activity against targets.
Account manage existing hoteliers:
Sell new products and services to existing accounts.
Be in regular contact with key hotels by phone, written correspondence, e-mail and face-to-face meetings.
Negotiate preferred rates and availability.
Encourage hoteliers to update their availability and content.
Analyse best performing hotels and identify 'best-in-class' practices to generate bookings. Encourage key hotels to adopt them.
Audit the hotels level of competency using the AH system, identify and fulfil training needs.
Present regular reporting to our hoteliers: number of placements on affiliates, volume of bookings, Look to Book ratio.
Suggest improvements to the hotel interface based on feedback from hoteliers.
Identify new products and services.
