Despite the hotel being next to a dual carriageway and a small retail park the surroundings were very pleasant due to the lake side setting and the design of the hotel with both indoor and outdoor areas overlooking the lake. The gym/spa facilities are a very attractive feature. Its great to have a swim before breakfast. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The reception area is very pleasant and welcoming.
Some areas of the hotel looked a bit worn ie one of the lifts and the gym changing room. The room we had, though very spacious, pleasant and well equipped, looked a bit dated and the window needed cleaning (it was covered in bird droppings, no doubt a consequence of having the lake which attracts the birds). There was no power in the room shower yet the gym changing room showers were fine. At breakfast I asked for another cup of coffee but didn't get it. To be fair we were in a rush so didn't have too much time to wait for it.
Overall: Overall it was a very enjoyable experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go again if I had to go back to the area. (108288074)
Room comfortable especially the bed.
Breakfast was poor as the hot food had run out and we had to ask for bacon and egg to be prepared.
Temperature of leisure pool very cold for children.
We also booked through Active Hotels on the internet and there seems to be an issue between their booking system and what your hotel interprets e.g. Active say that children stay free where as your staff think this wrong.

Pleasant staff very helpful - room a bit tired ditto television. Club lounge bnot what it used to be - noticed no soft drinks coffee maker was out of order with no attempt to supply an alternative - first time stayed in hotel for a number of years
