Pleasant staff, good food and plenty of hot water.

We booked a "smaller double room" for 3 nights. It was very cramped with part combed ceiling and space restricted furnishings to one bedside table with no chairs and nowhere to put cases. Just enough room to pass around the bottom of the bed. Very bright unshaded wall mounted bedside lights. Cramped en-suite, towels not changed during our stay and room cleaning minimal.

Overall: Spoilt by inadequate room and traffic noise at night, despite hotel being in country situation over a mile from nearest village.  (107563206)

Friendly staff, good food and cosy atmosphere

Overall: We were happy with our room and thought the hotel was charming. The lounge was especially welcoming with its open log fire. The menu for our evening meal was extensive with a variety of choices and our English breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and very tasty.  (107839008)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
