4.3 / 5 4.3 / 5 granville [taynuilt, GB] on 14/08/2009 (Mature couple)

The managment very helpful and had no hestitation in helping us over difficult situation we encountered in the area. The breakfast was very good, the staff freindly. There was a homely feel about the hotel and the management and a more person touch that big hotels fail to give.

There were no bad points really. the cost of the hotel stay was high but it was in a central position and if you wanted a more upmarket hotel the cost would have been relitive to one need and requirments?

Overall: I would recommend this hotel not for its updated appearance but for the genuine freindly atmosphere.  (108842230)

3.9 / 5 3.9 / 5 Paul [St. Albans, GB] on 26/07/2009 (Same sex couple)

Breakfast very good, though in a small dining room, fairly crowded. Check-in and check-out were fast, friendly and pain free.

Beds were very soft, narrow and somewhat on a slope. Not good for my spine. Check out should be 12 noon as standard, not 11. Basic 4 TV channels. What about some satellite or at least freeview channels?

Overall: Welcoming and professional look and feel. Room was smallish though adequate. Fair location, not too distant from the city centre for those willing to walk. With the breakfast included not bad value for money considering that Edinburgh seems to be an expensive place to stay.  (107750800)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
