Comfortable, friendly and clean

smokers stood outside our ground floor room each morning and smoke drifted in through window which needed to be open for fresh air

Staff was friendly and efficient. Location was very convenient, bed was comfortable enough and the room big enough to allow two adults to move around with relative ease (no one person hiding in the bathroom while the other packed or dressed, etc). Breakfast was good and plentiful.
Not really the hotel's fault; the lift was a bit wonky and went all the way up, then all the way down, opening the doors at each floor, although we were the only folk who had called for an elevator. It had been worked on the day before, so perhaps the workers hadn't had a chance to finish the job.
Although the square was quiet, we had a room with the spotlights on either side of our balcony, and the curtains weren't adequate to block all the light. Solid shutters or extending the track for the drapes about 6 more inches would have helped there. I'd suggest bringing some sort of eye covering for light-sensitive sleepers.
Overall: We enjoyed it. There is plenty within walking distance, including the Paddington rail station and the Paddington tube station. (108216531)

Location
Unreported Constuction directly next to hotel with unacceptable noise in early AM. Disclosure would be only fair thing. Front desk vacant for at least one hour between 9-11PM. Unable to leave wakeup call. Broken lift leading to three flights of luggage wagging.
