4.6 / 5 4.6 / 5 Adam [Crowthorne, GB] on 16/08/2009 (Mature couple)

Friendly, helpful staff. Informal atmosphere. Nice view over river. Good food (and beer). Reasonably priced.

The bed was comfortable, but the four-poster frame creaked quite a lot!

Overall: Very satisfied.  (108980171)

£29.90 for the room for Sunday night.

Overall: The room was a bargain!  (108542688)

Restuarant evening meal very good value for money, service good.

Noisy drunken youths in the early hours out in the high st, probably the same as any town centr!

3.4 / 5 3.4 / 5 Quentin [Portsmouth, GB] on 21/07/2009 (Group of work colleagues)

Quaint feeling to hotel. Good food. Good staff.

Noise from disaffected youth outside hotel at night, though the hotel staff did their best to calm them and move them on.

Overall: Fair. I'd stay again but only one night at a time unless I had a quiet room.  (107279636)

3.7 / 5 3.7 / 5 Anonymous on 21/07/2009 (Young couple)

Good freindly staff

Pricy breakfast Carpet missing on some parts of the stairs

Overall: Very good, very welcoming and overall pleasant  (107621235)

Overall: The Hotel generally is tired but of course very old. For the cost of the stay when booking the facilities were okay. However, the total cost of two nights when booked was £68, the bill upon leaving, with no additional costs incurred, was £98 so this was very disappointing.  (107340111)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
