Food was excellent!

Bed was very uncomfortable in Room 27

Overall: The food was lovely and the staff very friendly, but the bed was extremely uncomfortable and caused neck ache. The room was nice and clean though.  (108145425)

The man on reception was really nice.

The room we had was very old fashioned and gloomy and not a very nice place to stay. I wouldn't say it was unclean but we didn't really feel comfortable staying there. The staff were friendly but the state of the room felt very unwelcoming.

Overall: It did the trick as we literally were only there to sleep for a few hours after a wedding. But although it wasn't extortionate, I felt the hotel was expensive for what we got and I was very glad to leave.  (108244001)

Overall: Our stay was pleasurable. However at check in we were not told what time breakfast ran until so missed it, we assumed it would run until 11am when check out was. The room could do with an up grade and had the kitchen extractor fan outside so not very relaxing with the window open, the bed was uncomfortable and creaky. £75.00 for one evening was alot of money for the condition of the room.  (108601914)

THe grade 1 listed building - this should be a 3/4 star hotel.

1. Poor service at dinner table - & no drinks offered with our meal 2. Spring closer on back door has failed so door slams loudly every time it is used, unfortunately the back door was adjacent to our room.I reported this to reception when checking out.

Overall: For the price we paid I would have thought that the place settings would have been laid out for breakfast, and also an urn of boiling water provided for tea making. Guests do not expect to boil a kettle in an hotel dining room. Active Hotels could make better use of a 1452 building.  (108858478)
