breckfast could have had more choice. we have never been asked to pay on arrival and we never saw the people that owned it again. left keys with kitchen staff.

Staff were very friendly, and the rooms were fine. Quite handy for Murrayfield.

The decor could do with updating, and breakfast could be better.

Overall: This was a last minute booking for the Heineken Cup final, and did the job perfectly. I wouldn't normally have stayed here though.  (107747675)

3.1 / 5 3.1 / 5 Hermina [Schönenwerd, CH] on 12/08/2008 (Solo business traveller)

Good location halfway between Edinburgh airport and city centre. The room was quite comfortable.

Some items in room were broken - they worked, but were difficult to use (e.g., shower, coffee maker).

Overall: The room was expensive - this may have been special pricing for the Edinburgh festival. I would happily pay 60 to 80 pounds for a room of this quality, but not 120.  (108070593)

1.7 / 5 1.7 / 5 John [BILLINGHAM, GB] on 06/08/2008 (Same sex couple)

Excessive noise from other guests during the night, poor quality food, cleanliness of room and bathroom dubious. loose flagstones on public step areas to and from the rear car park. no decaff coffee.

Overall: dissapointing and very poor value for money  (107140556)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
