Overall: Comfortable  (108538524)

Staff were polite and helpful. Food was good

Room smelled initially, leak in the roof with a bucket under it. Lack of facilities. Hotel was a bit threadbare and in need of updating.

Overall: OK for the short 3 night stay, but I would not stay longer with the lack of facilities  (108665012)

1.7 / 5 1.7 / 5 David [by Linlithgow, GB] on 16/07/2009 (Solo business traveller)

Food in Bar was good

The decor was very shabby overall. Attic room was small and inadequate for business. Breakfast took 20 minutes to get served and even than it was not up to much.

Overall: Very disappointing. This was a low rate room but I have stayed in much better for the same cost in the same area and would not stay at this hotel again.  (108702490)

Excellent breakfast and dinner

No lift. Shabby carpets and decoration

Overall: Nice hotel in need of refurbishment. Friendly staff.  (107368490)

4.9 / 5 4.9 / 5 Julie [Lancashire, GB] on 24/05/2009 (Solo business traveller)

Staff were pleasant and attentive. Food was superb. Surrounding excellent for a stroll before dinner.

I have a limit for overnight accommodation and tried to book again 3rd June but the minimum price shown was £25 more than the 2 nights I stayed. Whilst I am happy to pay extra myself on occassions I cannot afford £25 extra regularly.

Overall: I most pleasant and enjoyable stay  (107433708)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
