Excellent staff/owner, good food at breakfast & very willing to help with choice of breafast. Very knowledgeable on local area

Hotel could do with a good tidy up & lick of paint, it is an old country house

Overall: We had a decent stay at this hotel & although far from perfect we would use it again  (107510443)

Attentive staff, plenty of hot water, comfortable bed, good breakfast, clean hotel if a bit tired in places

No shower in room but it reminded me how good a bath is!

Overall: Good for what I required, I will stay there again if I am in the area  (108814433)

Overall: When we arrived at the hotel, I was very disappointed. The building looked as though it was in need of some TLC. Shrubs were overgrown and blocked the view across the garden from the window of the bar. A ladder had been left propped against the wall by the bar window - was this another fire escape? The bathroom left a lot to be desired. On flushing the loo, the mechanism raised the cistern cover making an horrendous noise which could be heard from outside. The only way to avoid this was to remove the cistern cover before flushing! The loo itself was cracked but it was clean. The beds were comfortable and the room was reasonable. I asked to see the wine list and was told there was one red and a dry white or medium white wine! It reminded me very much of Fawlty Towers but we made the most of it and enjoyed our stay. The breakfasts were very good and dinner was okay but it appeared that guests weren't encouraged to eat in house in the evenings.  (107141682)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
