Very clean comfortable hotel with the friendliest staff and excellent food. Cannot fault it.

There were no bad points

Excellent value for money, well looked after by staff who cared

Little things marred 100% enjoyment like toilet roll holder fell off, shower head not connected to wall. Also, not everyone can have jams & marmalade with morning toast - for us diabetics, availability of Marmite portions would be nice.

The check-in was polite and friendly, and quick. All of the staff were very helpful. The room was a good size with ample toiletries, it was clean and overlooked the very pretty garden. We received a courtesy call the day before our visit to warn us that it might be noisy due to a wedding, but we were not troubled by any noise at all during our stay. The grounds of the hotel are a beautiful woodland setting which was very calming. Good car parking spaces too. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Not bad points, but the hotel was about 5 miles from the centre of York which meant having to get a cab to and from the centre. The heating didn't make the room warm enough. The beds did not have mattress covers on them, but the bedding and towels were clean. There could have been more of a selection of cheeses and salami hams and breads for the continental style breakfast. A spa pool and beauty salon would have been nice.

Overall: Very pleasant hotel. The english breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, it did not have the usual "greasy" appearance and it was well presented.  (108267998)
