Breakfast was good.
Friends room was not cleaned properly. Showers had mildew.
Overall: A 2 star hotel means you only look for clean and basic. 1 of the 2 rooms booked just made this criteria. A bit more effort by the cleaning staff and this would be a reasonable place to stay. The potential is there. Staff were pleasant enough. (108375941)
decent sized room en suite, had security camera on carpark, nice surroudings
had to speak to someone on the phone to check in as man on desk didn't seem to know what he was doing, staff ignorant, travellers staying in the carpark

CLean, welcoming, well locataed, inexpensive
Only complaint - via online booking asked for comfirmation that a late checkin was ok. Had no response so called the hotel directly... it was fine, but it would have been nice to be told in advance.
Overall: Excellent (107864658)
Total disregard for our situation. Met in hotel's car park by a young man who told us we had to follow him in his car and go to the Annexe. In fact we were taken to another hotel. No explanation given-we weren't even told where we were (turned out to be Batley!!) When I insisted on an explanation as to why we werwe being reated this way, the lad said our room had been damaged the previous evening. {I later heard that the 'Annexe' hotel had been told they were over-booked.) Obviously there's a lie in there somewhere! We never saw the Manager, Receptionist to offer an explanation as to why we were not previously informed that our accredited booking had been unilaterally changed.
Overall: The whole experience was unpleasant, insulting and certainly no way to treat guests. (107854284)
Gomersal Lodge Hotel does not resemble what is shown on internet, I was moved to another hotel as thankfully they had over booked.
Overall: I stayed at the Alder house hotel, told a sister hotel while basic it was clean and the food was superb. (107725465)
A beautiful Victorian villa, like a lovely faded rose, in a superb setting, just a little tired and jaded, could be wonderful with a bit of care and attenton to detail - decor was 'lacking', carpets faded, bathroom 'grim',TV only had 2 channels, but customer care was good. I will stay again.
Lack of attention to detail - freshness in the air, especially in the hall and reception area, was a real problem, for me, initially.
Overall: Reasonable value for money, not for a longer stay though, despite the lovey house and setting. (107302400)
Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.
Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.
All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.
48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
