Location is wonderful
Having a swimming pool is great
I prefer not seeing stranger's hair in the bathtub
Overall: poor view from our room (108544925)
Great location.
Difficult to find room. Expensive when other gusets were paying less than half price including golf dinner bed and breakfast.
rooms noisy copmpared with Premier Inn!!
Drink and food expensive
Overall: Avertage (108882066)
Room was tidy, beds was comfortable. Staff in the bar were friendly and helpful. As I had a room sale I did get value for money compared to say, The Premier Inn.
Reception was shocking for what was supposed to be a 4 star hotel. I was given poor instructions on how to find my room and ended up getting lost lugging a heavy suitcase. The leisure facilities are outdated and not very clean - there was a strange smell in the swimming area. The food was over priced and not fresh at all. Staff at reception were unhelpful. I was in a room next to a group of noisy guys who came in at 2 am with a group of girls and made a huge noise for almost 2 hours. Not great when you have to get up early in the morning for work.
Overall: A pretentious hotel that pretends to be four star but is more of a three star. The place is slightly outdated especially the main dining area, lifts and leisure centre. The rooms however are clean and comfortable. (108885207)
location and setting were good
Overall: This hotel is a bit like Fawlty Towers. Nothing is done particularly well, and the rooms are poor for the price you pay. For the wedding we attended we were asked to order our meals when we RSVPd (several months before the wedding). Despite this the hotel still had the wrong number of dishes for each course and people missed out on their original choices - how could they get that wrong?! The staff are also poorly trained in customer management (see bad points) (107747394)
not many good points
room 116 was like a oven the room is above the main kitchen extract fans the AC was not working when we arrived the main window was fully open due to the heat in the room the lighting was poor in the room as well when we complained there wasnt a spare room to be more into due to being full
the breakfast was just the same no selection no scramble or poached eggs the food was partly warm it was just basic breakfast for the money we paid for the weekend it was not value for money

Lovely setting.
Entrance well maintained and attractive as first impression. This was somewhat spoiled by the corridors further away which are shabby and in need of redecoration.
Overall: Pleasant, the surroundings make for a instant holiday feeling. (107350465)
Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.
Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.
All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.
48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
