Our room seemed of poor quality, large stains covered most of the carpet. Both bulbs on the bed lamps were blown and the fridge was empty, my wife was particularary put off by the shower which was near impossible to get right without getting scolded!
Overall: I have stayed in many hotels both here in the UK and abroad and have found the standard of the rooms far superior even at the lower end of the market, we did not make a fuss as we were attending a function nearby and were only staying overnight, luckily! (108691836)
Well located. The center of the town is near enough (15 min walk). Friendly and good service and fully equipped rooms. Space enough for (free) parking. Although not large the restaurant provides a good breakfast and a decent meal.
Noisy plumbing (hot water), but we did not really hear any noise from the other guests.
Overall: This was our first time ever to England, and we used this hotel as basis to follow the trail of the midsummer murders, which was filmed in the Buckingham shire. For this reason the hotel was perfect. (107638300)
I have made a complaint- most importantly the standard of accommodation represented appalling value for money.
Overall: ditto (107621857)
The hotel was exactly as we expected. The bed was comfortable and the room more than adequate for an overnight stay.
Breakfast was too late for us as we had to leave by 8.00.

The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Wallpaper patched up, very forceful tap in sink so everytime it was used sent water shooting out the sink onto the bath room floor. Soap dispensers impossible to use. Formal garden outside the hotel (Hence the name) was a brown umkemp patch which was evidence of lack of care.
Overall: The room provided a sleeping and washing facilities but wasn't really that pleasant to stay in and at a cost of (97768245)
Hotel clean, bed firm, well equiped facilities in the room or available in the corridor. bar area intimate - good for meeting other guests
Information given on homepage is misleading, we do not agree that the menu was a "selection of tempting dishes", but rather bland and of limited choice. Nor do we agree that the area within Drake's bar was in deed big enough for restaurant status. We also found the temperature of the shower difficult to get right without either having very hot or cold water to begin with (did confirm this with the staff).
Overall: The staff were fine and where required very helpful. We found it a good base for exploring NT propereties in the area (97257800)
Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.
Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.
All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.
48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
