restaurant was good

room very cold and damp

Overall: the building itself is magnificent but alas it is in dire need of decorating and refurb, I can only describe the interior and furnishings as shabby.  (107359795)

Beautiful countryside mansion, rooms and furniture matching the buildings atmosphere. Nice and soft beds. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent Indian Cuisine downstairs. Breakfast sufficient and of good quality.

Shower small and difficult to control the water temperature. Toilet not working very well. Windowpanes dirty.

Overall: The price/quality relation is good, we would recommend this hotel for travelers seeking good night's sleep or a place to rest for a night or two. No shopping possibilities very close by, car needed.  (107650248)

Picturesque setting,beautiful building,close to main link roads & just a nice feel about the place.

The cooked breakfast was a dissapointment & I know my breakfasts.

Overall: A near perfect weekend including a quality win for the Blues & a visit to the princess castle,shame about the breakfast.  (107472417)

the Grounds

Because there was a wedding there when we stayed, which we were not advised the wedding guests took over everywhere outside, inside, bars everywhere even lurking chatting on the stairs! The room was terrible small double bed with a nailed down headboard. We were booked in for the weekend when I saw the state of the room I cancelled the second night. I was told at 7pm we may go downstairs as the bar was now available.All night wedding guests were coming and going until 12.30am. I had a 10 year old child, so you can imagine we did not get much sleep. The second night we booked into a B& B in Newton called Blue Skys what a difference!

Overall: Terrible, I did not see the feature rooms so unable to see what the quality was like. But all I will say it goes downhill from the staircase up!!!  (107832400)

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
