very comfortable and good value for money

Overall: I booked this hotel for a friend from America who was staying in Colchester for one night between destinations and she was very happy with the room, hotel staff and facilities. When we dropped her off on Saturday evening there was a wedding reception going on and the receptionist said that if after 11pm she was being affected by the noise just to let them know. However, the room they had allocated her was on the far side of the hotel and there was no chance of her hearing a thing.  (1538084)

Beautiful surroundings. Peaceful.

TV could be labelled to say 'master switch by bed'. Was not obvious to start with. Final details of how to arrive (from London)by car could be improved and Borough Road is also 'Entrance to UoEssex.

Staff were polite and friendly. Paint flaking off the walls in the dining room. Bathroom badly needs work ---- rust behind taps.

The bed was only 4ft 6ins wide and my wife and I are used to a larger size. When one is paying £90 per night you would expect to be nearly as comfortable as you are at home with at least a 5ft bed. Also there was only one armchair ?

Overall: Whilst this is only a three star hotel, you do not expect to be less comfortable than when you are at home. When we asked for a larger bed we were told it would cost an extra £47. Better value can be found elsewhere.  (107410113)

staff excellent

reading your welcome pack we had no radio, no extra channels on tv. The soap sispenser in bath broken so too late once in bath. Bathroom not as Not too badclean as expected.

Internet booking very easy, reception staff excellant

Evening meal poor with a very limited menue would not entice people to eat in the hotel from outside.

Overall: Buildings good, at least not like a chain, stay let down by the evening meal  (97804454)
