Excellent breakfast and pleasant staff

Plug in sink was dirty and the flow away of water in the shower was poor

Staff very helpful and obliging. The location of the hotel is magnificent. There were log fires burning in every room which was very welcoming.

The noise from machinery was awful throughout the night. We had to plug our ears with cotton wool.

Good quiet room in Hotel annex

Unable to dine in Hotel restaurant until 8.45 which was too late so had to eat in Jack Hares

Overall: Prices in Jack Hares are expensive for both food and drink. Hotel annexe has nice rooms but in bad weather it needs a walk outside to reach hotel restaurant for dinner or breakfast  (108555375)

The original room we were booked into was noisy because it was over the bar.When we complained we were given a room in an outside cottage. This was an exellent room.

staff were lovely and the breakfast was really scrummy.

There was a loose light fitting in the bathroom which hung down. We were put in a room looking onto a grey fire escape and there was a dubious looking stain on the bed cover.We ate in the attached bistro, food fantastic but portions too small and very pricey.

Overall: beautiful hotel, freindly staff and gorgeous surroundings. But its the little things that count.  (108640370)

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
