Stayed in Superior Rooms which were excellent. The food was not only first class but was also reasoably priced. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Lovely room with four-poster bed and modern stylish bathroom. Excellent food both at breakfast and dinner.

Some traffic noise, but not enough to disturb sleep.

All the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional, we were made to feel very welcome. The food, both breakfast and evening meal, was excellent. The standard of cleanliness through out the whole inn/hotel was good and the restaurant and bar was extremely attractive and pleasant to be in. It was a lovely surprise to be upgraded (thank you) and I was pleased that the wine was there in the room as ordered so everything was just great. It was also nice that the special more intimate circular table was reserved for us and we were well looked after, which made my husband's Birthday dinner extra special.

The room was lovely, but far too hot for us and we couldn't open the windows as the traffic was so noisy and we are not used to traffic and this made it difficult to sleep. Although I don't know what you could be done about this -provide a fan perhaps. It would have been nice to have somewhere to hang the showerhead up on the wall so we could shower instead of using the jacuzzi bath when we were short of time. Although the food was really great and generous of portion, I hope you don't mind me making a couple of suggestions about the layout of your menu. The list of main courses were confusing as they just ran from one line onto the next and there was no order to it just a jumble of dishes. You could make so much more of each item if is was better spaced and presented. The vegetarian choices were also mixed in the with other food on the list and hard to pick out. It would also have been nice to have the option of a different simpler menu for our second night's stay as we had eaten to bursting point the night before and would have liked something plainer the next evening. And as there were only two Vegetarian choices and I wasn't that keen on the second thing, I had to have something I didn't really fancy - I expect your chef would have made me something else if I had asked but I just don't want to make a fuss or put pressure on the kitchen by having something not on the menu. Just one more tiny little point (well you did ask) - please please please don't use goats cheese on the only thing for vegetarians, at nearly every restaurant/hotel I go to, the vegetarian choice has goats cheese on it - and I, and I am sure many other vegetarians just don't like goats cheese. There are over 200 different British cheeses to choose from and the only one I don't like is goats cheese!! It would be just brilliant to see a restaurant that offered one of the other wonderful cheeses available or made a big feature of serving local cheeses.

Overall: The Hoops Inn and Hotel is very attractive place to stay, very clean with a well cared for feel about it. The grounds are very pleasant too - lovely on a Summer's evening. There's lots of parking space. Staff are friendly and efficient and the food is excellent and generous. It is an ideal location to explore the North Devon coast. We felt that we were well looked after and would definitely like to stay again.  (108555352)

food excellent, rooms and overall ambience of the inn was lovely. Also wifi access, albeit only in the bar was very useful to us. All the staff were really pleasant and extremely helpful

Overall: We were only there for two nights, and were made very welcome - went out of their way to ensure we had something to eat, even though we arrived late evening. Very friendly place to stay  (108520423)
