Location, buildings, facilities, food, service. General ambience.

Problem with non-drinkable water from tap (free bottled water at reception). En suite plumbing barely functional, although they did say refit in process. Choice of music in the restaurant was truly awful.

Overall: Very enjoyable. Superb atmosphere. Just starting to feel as though some maintenance is required.  (108205779)

Staff friendly without being intrusive; Quiet location with quiet rooms; good communal spaces, bars and restaurant.

Single irritating point; many of the staff have the habit of saying "no problem" after the slightest request or response to a question e.g. "Would you like a full Engish breakfast" - "Yes Please" - "No problem". Of course there is no problem otherwise the question would not have been asked! Once now and again is unnoticable but the phrase was repeated by several staff again and again. I would advise a quiet word with the staff suggesting a couple of alternative phrases to use! The standard of cooking fell a little short of my expectations but was not at all bad.

Overall: Good value, nice location, nice staff and I will return when the opportunity arises.  (107746352)

Hotel lovely - everything as expected.

We walked into the side door - into the bar - whilst everyone was outside - round the corner in the square - after a fire alarm. My son was shouting "Hello", when the manager came back in & asked why he wasn't outside! The bell had been turned off - we had no idea what was going on & no staff were there to stop us going inside!

Overall: Good.  (108689974)

Overall: An 'easy' stay... in that the surroundings were not stuffy, formal, too informal. A friendly atmosphere whereby staff did not have a 'us and them' attitude. A delightful experience.  (108492016)

Staff were very accomodating - we were going to a wedding the next day and let us keep our room an extra hour. Food was good in the bar. Room was an excellent size with a double bed each and plenty of room to get changed in.

Had to queue for breakfast. Room furniture a bit tired, window frame cracked.

Overall: Very good value for money at £60 bed and breakfast. Would certainly consider going there again at the same rate.  (107458787)

Nice quite hotel in the country.

Car park needs filling. Rain has washed some of the tarmac away and I ended up with a twisted ankle. Driveway also needs work.

Overall: Hotel itself was great.  (108835996)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
