Good location, easy to access and set in beautiful surroundings. Room was pleasant and clean.

Had to wait for awhile to be checked in. It would have been a nice extra to have a small fridge in the room for milk etc. The service at breakfast was really slow. Nobody greeted us and we didn't know where to sit. It was a bit rushed too considering we were on holiday. 8-9.30 seemed quite early for breakfast.

Overall: Very pleasant. It would have been nice to stay for longer and perhaps do some walking. We visited Bath and then went onto Cheltenham to stay with friends.  (108204153)

The room was charming, complete with a canopy bed and fireplace. The bedding was spotless and the bathroom completely modern. We found the experience at the Grange an absolute delight.

The deadbolt on the door leading to our patio from our room was broken, so the room wasn't as secure as we would have liked. We would never have found you if we hadn't had a GPS system.

Overall: This was a delightful surprise! An absolutely wonderful Inn tucked away in a small village.  (108183709)

Lovely location, lovely hotel, well placed for Bristol and Bath

Overall: Cannot think of a single bad point. Room was lovely with Victoriana bathroom fittings. Food was excellent. Staff very helpful. This was my second visit and I will definitely be staying here again.  (108202313)

Very enjoyable, nice fire in bar, rest area, helpful staff

Plumbing in room had a poor drop rate for waste water, and shower head too low (6'1" tall)

Overall: Will stay again, had a good time, business went well.  (108174691)

excellent service, room and food. Lovely setting

when we were there, there was a blocked sewer I think and it stank. It could have done with more lighting in the room

Overall: Great place to stay - we were sorry we only had one night  (108181443)

The conservatory Restaurant and surroundings were very nice. The staff fairly helpful (especially on the day of departure)

For us: The menu was limited and not to our taste. The room was dated and could have done with a good revamp!!

Overall: Upon arrival I could not open the door and that set the standard for the overnight stay. The restaurant was really nice and the grounds also were well kept. The room was dated and the mat in front of the fire had certainly seen better days. Having said this the room was certainly not unpleasant, and there were some really nice touches, like the victorian roll topped bath, the 4 poster bed and the outside space (table and 2 chairs). The shower and toilet area was a little cramped but again not enough to put us off of our one night stay. The dining in the evening was not as I would have expected and as such was (for us) a disappointment. The menu lacked choice and it was not to my taste. I was left feeling hungry after dinner. Breakfast was certainly better and was very nice. Again the resaurant surroundings made the hotel. Out of choice I would not choose to stay here again, primarily because of the menu, although I am sure it would please some guests. You could easily find fault with this hotel which is unfair because overall it was OK and it appeared to be popular (plenty of other guests), but it has the potential (in our opinion) to be so much better, and our feelings were that it portrayed a "that'll do" aproach.  (108609926)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
