There was nothing to like about it...Shabby Chic was just plain shabby..

the room was in a VERY poor state of repair.

Overall: The radiators were on full blast and could not be turned down..we had to sleep with fan on full...hole in floor next to bath covered only by a shabby carpet...toilet in poor state...handle not on properly...toilet seat in a bad state..looked VERY old...hot water tap would not turn off...towel rail hanging off the wall..Bath very shaky.Bedroom curtain hooks hanging off so could not close curtains properly for privacy..we were right next to the front door so could be seen from the street PLUS we had the door being opened and let bang closed far into the night...general state of furniture and carpeting was VERY poor. The door to the room was not a secure door at all..anyone could have forced entry very easily and being right by the front door we were to say the least very vulnerable..Facilities were not at all what I would have expected for the money..we have had far better accomodation and facilities for less money even in central London..We were not the only guests who were unhappy either..we were spoken to by two other parties in the dining room and they also were extremely dissatisfied..also..your internet picture..VERY deceiving..that view can only be seen from the river..We all had the same problem finding you because we were looking for THAT view of the hotel ..All in all we found our night uncomfortable with the heat and noise and could not even sit and watch TV or read because of lack of privacy due to curtains not closing properly..Also..we noticed only one catch on one of the windows..again that is very poor safety..Visitors need to know their physical safety as well as safety of belongings is paramount to any establishment..  (1461473)

The hotel was well situated within easy walking distance of the town and river walks. The staff were extremely helpful, providing us with details of buses, boat rides etc. An excellent continental breakfast was provided. The price was very impressive for a London hotel.

My friend was very concerned about fire safety as there was only one steep staircase leading from our rooms. A vertical ladder was provided to help us escape onto the roof if the need arose although my friend doubted she could use this. The shower in my room was pitiful and the water pressure dropped to virtually nothing if anyone else in the hotel turned on a tap.

Overall: I was generally satisfied with the hotel and enjoyed my stay.  (108497085)

Pleasant views of the river

Room not prepared, bathroom facilities poor, pillows to soft.

Overall: Adequate as location was good for the purpose of our stay.  (108249141)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
