we were surprised and pleased to be able to find B & B for £50. We did notice a lack of the little things, eg, shower gel, cap etc and biscuits with the tea/coffee. We did not mind this as we assume these had been cut because the price was cut, and that suited us fine.

The mattress in room 19 is rather bumpy.

Overall: Pleasant hotel, public areas very nice, some other areas a little tired, but understandable, especially in current climate. Staff polite and helpful, breakfast good. A pleasant stay. A lack of toiletries, etc but whose complaining at just £50 a double room.  (108914832)

Spacious room, decent bed, reasonable breakfast. Friendly waiters at breakfast.

Usual rubbish TV and reception. Kettle had something brown in it-these things really should be checked as a matter of course. Breakfast room was light and airy, but clean the roof and get rid of the complicated drapes and dated furniture.

Overall: One of those places that could be good for the sake of a little investment. Great building, central location-but got the impression that they were skimping a bit and making do. Spend a few thousand-it could be a very good hotel.  (108904847)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
