good location and easily accessible

staff at reception was not too welcomming although restaurant staff tried to make it up again; bathroom hasn't been cleaned when we took over the room (open soap packages; sink was in poor condition (couldn't hold any water anymore - dripping)

The location is very excellent, only 5 minute walking distance from the centre, and the room was also nice and clean. The breakfast was the best ever during my 10 days stay in UK this time!

The two seperated taps on basin were very annoying. I wanted to wash my hands with warm water but it was very hot or very cold!

Overall: Overall, it was very nice to stay at Mercure and I think I would never find any alternative place in Oxford.  (108450685)

4.6 / 5 4.6 / 5 Raymond [Dorchester Dorset., GB] on 09/06/2009 (Mature couple)

Room was adequate although on the small side for a stay of more than one night. Excellent breakfast and very cheerful and helpful staff.

Overall: Very good.  (107601647)

good central location, the rooms have been redecorated since my last stay

my room smelt of stale smoke and it was very noisy

Overall: the hotel was adequate for my needs ,however having booked for 3 rooms I don't think it was value for money as there was a lot of variance in the prices when I had booked early .  (107529716)

3.3 / 5 3.3 / 5 William [Olney, GB] on 24/02/2009 (Solo leisure traveller)

Room and facilities in room were excellent.

Sunday morning breakfast spoiled the stay. Apologies were given that there was a trainee chef, but I waited 30 minutes and still my order for a cooked breakfast was not taken. Many others were also waiting.

Overall: Good apart from the breakfast.  (107684887)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
