Staff were excellent and very helpful 99.9/100

No real bad points except the information should have included that rooms were in the chalet area were up a flight of steps. The opportunity should have been made to request a ground chalet. My wife found it difficult to climb the steps to our chalet.

Overall: Very good  (108338709)

Quiet situation, competent staff. Good pub-style food. Good value at £40 BB double room, poor value if you pay more.

Damp and gloomy rooms

Overall: Pleasant hotel marred by damp rooms designed by the winner of the 'design a gloomy hotel room' competition. One small window, dark curtains, dark woodwork, dark furniture, dark carpet, black headboards and lights that were so energy saving it was dificult to tell whether they were on or off. If you want to read, take a torch.  (108426810)

beautiful building and grounds, superb and helpful staff (especially the night porter) and a tremendous room for the cost - nice size, comfy bed, dark curtains, good facilities in the room etc.

1st room was ground floor, the person upstairs was not expecially noisy but their floor made an amazing amount of noise for just walking on it and when they turned the shower on I thought the Taliban were attacking! very, very loud and extremely annoying at 7am when you're on hols. the next room was upstairs and that was so much better, but i felt for those downstairs

Overall: Very very good. £40 is incredible value for money including the breakfast. we got this rate because we booked online but that is all i ever do so as far as i am concerned its brilliant. I would recommend you to others and definitely stay again myself  (108546022)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
