Reasonably quiet and convenient for the main railway station. Access to old ghent is also made easy by the frequent tram service which stops by the hotel.

There was nothing to dislike about the Chamade, given the informtion we obtained before booking, we knew what to expect.

Overall: The hotel photo on the internet indicated to us that tram lines past by the door, we therefore anticipated some traffic noise, but this did not prove to be a problem. The trams provide the vital link with the centre of the city. The 'Chamade' is ideally placed for those seeking accommodation near the rail station, but be sure to exit the station's main entrance! If you do so, the hotel is no more than a 3 minutes walk, but watch out for the cyclists! While the hotel is a tram ride away from the centre of Ghent, it proved an excellent base for taking day trips to Brussels and/or Brugges by train. The hotel does not have a restaurant (continental breakfasts are provided), but there are dining venues nearby (we enjoyed 'Ramblers' which is smoke-free). Tram rides to the centre of the old town are a must and offer access to many delighful bars and dining choices.  (97921972)

The room was spacious and on a quiet side of the hotel. It was warm and light. The bathroom was well provisioned. The hotel is well placed for visiting the attractions and the tram outside was very handy. The breakfast was good. We stayed at Easter and each day had easter eggs on the tea tray - a small but nice touch.

The television was too small for a room of that size. The shower wet the bathroom floor each time we used it, soaking the bathmat. The bath taps could have done with a bit of fastening back to the wall but everything was spotlessly clean.

Overall: The on-line instruction on finding the hotel was poor. We drove round and round trying to find it and although we knew of the general direction it was very difficult because of the tram lines and one way system. We needed to turn right but had to drive round the block hoping we would eventually get to it. We are used to contintental driving but at the end of a long journey this was stressful. Parking was a nuisance - we had to keep going out to feed the meter as we used the trams not the car. However, none of this should put anyone off - it is worth it.  (99261376)

Why do we publish ratings from Active Hotels?

Our rating system is designed to give you the confidence to find and book the hotel that best suits your needs. We've worked hard to create a fair and impartial process to collect our ratings so you can always be assured of a great hotel experience.

How do I add a rating?

Unlike other sites that offer ratings, our rating process is by invitation only. This ensures that 100% of the ratings you see on our site come from guests that have booked online with us and stayed at the hotel in question.

All our ratings are created by guests who have booked through Active Hotels (or its sister sites) and completed their stay over the last year. We don't edit, alter or adjust the ratings so you can be sure of unbiased opinions.

How do you manage to collect so many ratings?

48 hours after departure from your accommodation booked through Active Hotels or any of our sister sites, you may be invited to complete a guest review questionnaire. This means that, for most hotels, we're able to post more than 1 guest rating every single week. We currently display over 70,000 ratings and we add hundreds of scores from real guests every day.
